My mood while writing this blog: Overjoyed! |
Yesterday was so amazing! The appointment was at 9:30 and we got right in for our ultrasound. The tech was awesome, she is the same one who did my 12 weeks scan. She thought it was a girl then, so I was curious to see if she was right because people kept saying either "Yes, that pic is totally a girl!" or "You can't tell, they all look like girls at that time."
I'd almost convinced myself it was a boy, just so I'd be prepared for anything. But she didn't take long looking around. She'd measure things and then tell us how normal or good it looked. Very relieving since I still didn't have my lab results back yet. Then she got down to the nitty gritty, had no problem finding the girl parts! A GIRL!
I have two boys, so I'm overjoyed! It's like a totally new experience!
Then, as if I wasn't happy enough, she tried to do 3-D images! Can you believe it? But baby wouldn't hold very still, so they didn't turn out great. Still, there are two that I have that look like a baby body with blurry face or back of her head! It looks like a real baby!
I've been feeling her move and kick for about the last week for sure, with occasion times where I think it was happening, just not regularly for the past 3 weeks. But today I was able to sit there and just feel her. She even kicked my bladder driving home a few minutes ago, and I knew it was her!
I then had my doctors appointment. He came in and talked to me about my scan and how good baby looked. But he said the nurses were still looking for my labs. He didn't know why they couldn't find them. He measured my fundus, said it was on targed. He listened to the heartbeat. And then left to get the labs. Took about 15 minutes. I was sweating it wondering if they had bad news or something!
But he came in and told me based on my age my risk of downs or spina bifida was 1 in 300. But based on my labs my risk was 1 in 41,000! So no need for amnio! Then he said my thyroid levels came back borderline and left it up to me to decide if I wanted to take thyroid meds. He read some research to me, and I chose not to. He said he was comfortable with that, but just wanted to gauge my comfort level, too.
I really feel lucky to have this group of doctors. And even luckier to have a healthy baby girl! And feel her moving now on a regular basis! Now I just have to wait 21 more weeks to HAVE her! ( I get to schedule at 39 weeks, yay!) I may just have to do those 4-D images to have something to break up the next 21 weeks!

So I decided the sage green with a mural of a Willow Tree and animals and bugs would be fine. And then a lot of pink bedding!!! I already got her a going home outfit! And no, there are never enough exclamation points, are there!!! RPK -
