31-10-2009 - Baby Shower HappyMy mood while writing this blog:
Happy

We had our baby shower last night, and it was combo Halloween party/Baby shower. We sent at least 100 invites, maybe more if you count the Facebook event I started. We had about 40-45 positive RSVP's. I figured we'd see 30, and I was almost dead right. We had 33 people show up. A few people who didn't had the flu or a cold and didn't want to get me sick, and one got called in to work. A few just didn't show, but it's no big deal to me.

I had so many people I didn't know what to do! I fed them all, at least. And my 90 yr old grandma had a shot of apple pie, she sipped it, it was so funny. I had my house all decorated for Halloween, and we intermingled that with baby shower type stuff, "It's a Girl!" sort of things. I made brownies with eyes and bones and put "it's a girl" toothpicks in her head so she was My Little Monster Brownies. We had bacon wrapped chicken bites, cheesy potatoes, chips and dip, homemade chex, muddy buddies and caramel chex, I made all that! Oh, and I also made Spritzer cookies and decorated them. A friend brought a veggie tray, and a cousin brought weenies in sauce. My dad and b/f made hot dogs and hamburgers. And almost ALL the food was gone before the night was over! Just chips and chex left.

We do still have a lot of beer and wine left, but the guys played drinking games once the fam was mostly gone. They did that while me and a few of my g/f's put together the bassinet I got. I also got two car seats, three bath tubs, TONS of clothes, 9 bottles, lots of heathcare type stuff for nails and hair and temp. Booties and bibs. Two car seats, a high chair. On and on. We made out like bandits.

The three best gifts I got was a burp rag and diaper cover with ruffles and the babies name "Willow" embroidered on it in purple shades! I also got a night light made of lighted willow branches my cousin made. She works for a florist, and it's absoultely gorgeous! And the third was a necklace my cousin Paula made out of a game piece for me.

I had so much fun feeding everyone and having them over. I loved getting compliments on my food, and my decorations. I was THRILLED to open presents. But most of all I loved that my friends and family came to celebrate our little baby girl! The party started at 5 and didn't end till amost 1am.

We are about done with the post clean up, and have NO idea where to put all this stuff. But I just keep looking at it and looking at it! And today the sun is shining after a WHILE of clouds, so we are gonna leave it and get outside for a while on this Halloween! Then we are dressing up and heading to a party after taking my kids trick or treating. Lots of fun on this vacation, and back to work tomorrow night!

Thanks Sarahann! I am glad I enjoyed it, too! Everyone is saying what a success it was, and I agree! I love the name I picked out, but it does get the occasional very strong negative opinion, lol! Oh well, I can take it. I'm dreading going back to work, it's been so awesome to have time off and just be able to do things for myself and take care of my house and my kids and my b/f and prepare for the baby! Now it's back to the grind until maternity leave!
