Write a new blog

My mood while writing this blog: so blissful ;) and hopeful! |
I am sooo in love with my little man, words can't even begin to describe... I feel like I'm the luckiest woman in the world.
Slevin is progressing SO beautifully... he smiles all the time, and has the CUTEST giggle ever... he giggles for hours if I kiss his neck, and is so tickelish (sp?)... I'm absolutely besotted. His hand-eye coordination is amazing, and he's started passing toys from one hand to the other.... his favourite "toy" is a windchime we have in the living room, and he's started mimicking dad's movements... Jay will clasp the chimes quickly with his hand and let them go, and Slevin copies him. When Jay does it slooowwwwly, it's so cute to watch Slevin try and do the same thing slowwwwly. Ha! Little hands can only hold so many of the windchimes though!
He rolls over on both sides like a pro, and has discovered his toes... the latest trick is trying to eat them. He's a hair's breadth from rolling all the way over... he almost does it once or twice, then gets this look on his face like "what the hell was that?" and rolls back quickly... lol
He's taking to solids pretty well, and is already very particular about what he will or won't eat, but is becoming more eager, actively opening his mouth when the spoon approaches. LOVES banana, sweet potato, apple and peach puree, but will NOT touch mixed veg... exactly like me as a baby.
In other news, I've applied for a job at Jay's work which will allow me to work half day from home. It will mean a salary cut, but it's work I really want to do, and will mean more time with Slevin, as I'll only have to put him in daycare for around 4 -5 hours a day... keep fingers crossed for me it pans out, please ladies, but I have it on good authority that at the moment I'm the strongest candidate.
We're also looking to move into the country in the next few weeks. The rental we are paying here is not worth what we have - a cramped, two bedroom apartment. Okay, decidedly more cramped now that there are 3 of us and the drying rack is out every day for washing... but for a few hundred LESS, and 15 minutes more travel time to work, we've got a potential house lined up... that's right an actual HOUSE. 4 double bedrooms, 2 acre garden, PETS ALLOWED (we can finally get a dog!), with a home office, and views of the lakes... I am SO excited. I've spoken to the landlady and she's due to send me photos of the interior of the house today... she seems really nice. It will mean breaking our lease here, and thus risking losing our deposit, but we can't live like this anymore... it's becoming very claustrophobic, and while I know we're lucky to have as big a place as we do... I must admit we're spoiled, growing up in SA with vast open spaces - I grew up on an 8 acre plot. I am so excited for this opportunity and truly feel alive again, now that we have so much in the pipeline.
If I do get the job though, a sad thing will be that I won't be able to make it down to SA for my best friend's wedding due to the salary cut... she understands, but it's sad nonetheless... with the economic situation in SA, she's been upset that they may not be able to go on a honeymoon, so I'm arranging (whether or not I'm there) to send them for a week to Zanzibar - honeymoon cottage, snorkelling, white beaches, blue water, sun, and dinner for two on the beach... very exciting stuff! And it's about a third of the cost of us having to go down to SA lol.
So that's it for news for now... new photo's of Slevin in my photobook ;)
So much love to you all!
Nic
P.S - a big congratulations to my friend Inge, who gave birth to a 10.5lb(!!!!) baby boy last night, Neil Christian... 9 days overdue, and healthy as a little horse! Almost as big as one, too!
