| 22-7-2009 - Michael Joseph is here! | My mood while writing this blog:Overjoyed and blessed!! |
Michael Joseph was born Saturday, July 18, 2009 at 5:26 PM weighing in at 5lbs. 14 oz. and 17 in. long at 35 weeks and 5 days.
We went into the hospital Friday evening for stronger contractions. My doc came in a little before 10pm and removed my cerclage. He said I was at a 3. He also said if contractions stopped, he would not induce labor, I'd just have to wait it out because any extra time for baby would be best. Around 6 am, nurse checked and I was at a 4, but contractions had slowed down. Around 10 am, they were only 2 an hour and pretty much stalled.
Contractions were very far apart, but the nurse came in twice and said baby's heartbeat had dipped when I had contraction. She said I might have to have a c-section if it continued. An hour later, she said everything was fine and that it was most likely the way I was laying. He didn't like it or perhaps was laying on the cord.
My husband and I were almost asleep and the nurse came in quicky. She told my husband to get off the bed and had me turn right away. She called for the nurses to come in and to get my doctor. Several nurses came in and I was so scared!! I couldn't hear his heart beating anymore and they were searching for it on the monitors. I was given oxygen and they switched my IV out, put in a catheder and wheeled me out within minutes.
I went to the OR for an emergency c-section. They said his heart rate dropped down to 60, that's why I couldn't hear it anymore. I was given a spinal and doctor was ready to go. I was so scared, shivering and did I mention SCARED! My husband was finally allowed to come and they began right after. He was out within minutes. When I heard his cry, I felt so happy and so thankful!! Then some amazing words were said... he is going to the regular nursery, not the NICU! How wonderful!!
Michael has been charging on ever since. All the things they were worried about, latching/sucking, wet and dirty diapers, sugar level, have all been perfect!! He is doing wonderfully!!
I'm trying to keep up with the whole c-section thing. It sucks... a lot more painful than vaginal, but it's all worth it... Michael Joseph is amazing! healthy, beautiful and sweet!
Thank you all for your support and good luck to everyone!!
