My mood while writing this blog: Surprised |
I had the 19 1/2 week second screening this morning and the tech tells me we are having a boy. I was so wrong! I was so surprised but I was so happy. His name will be Jack Dean. I also got the devastating news that aside from everything developing well and he weighs 10 0z. he has something called club foot. They say it's where the foot kinda formed to the right so instead of standing on it flat foot, he would stand on it on the right which obviously could pose a problem when comes time to walk. They say this is very correctable. At birth they will re-evaluate and see if the surgery is necessary or if the corrective shoes will work fine. I cried when I left there. My honey held me. I felt like I had something wrong with me. We both have kids that have no defects and then we make one together that has a problem. He kept reassuring me this was corrective. I never thought there was even a slight possibility of birth defects. It never crossed my mind. The dr. said 1 out of every 2-300 women will have a child with some type of defect and that ours isn't so bad and can be corrected. This still didn't make me feel better. I was so happy during the hour session and the baby was so active until doc came in and told me her findings. I was immediately sad. It is only natural to be. We want our kids to never have any challenges in life. I must keep my head up and have acceptance. I must realize it could be worse. A physical deformation that is not repairable. I am still blessed.

Tuesday, 13 Oct Congratulations on your little Prince!!! Im sorry to hear about his foot condition but just remember that you are still very blessed. It will all be ok. Its good that they noticed it this early on because everyone can begin to be prepared on how to fix it. Like the others said, im sure its something that is fairly easy to fix early on. Babies are so adaptable and malleable when first born that it can be very easy to fix things like that. Dont stress out over it and dont blame yourself. You still have a beautiful and healthy baby boy inside of you. xoxoxox evrcastanon -
Monday, 12 Oct You are blessed.... just keep remembering that. Our children are everything to us.... every day is a gift having them here and healthy. My son had a slight club foot. It took him till his second year to walk "normal" I remember all the frustration with myself. And it's weird the Drs didn’t make a fuss about it. Since my son was four he's been active in soccer, wrestling and football. It's not easy but stay positive... DoeysGirl (Cassie) -
Monday, 12 Oct Congratulations on the baby boy! I keep thinking mine's a boy, but we didn't find out, so I guess we'll know in about two weeks! :) As for the club foot, don't worry! My friend's son wore a cast for a couple of months when he was tiny, and now he's two and completely "normal" just like any other kid! Little Jack will be perfect! :) balsamfir -
Monday, 12 Oct Hi NinaCongratulations on the boy!!! I'm also having a boy. In terms of the club foot, I can appreciate how upsetting it must be to learn there is something wrong, but, in the big picture you are blessed with a precious little baby that is healthy overall. One of my best friends was born with a club foot - and she is totally fine now - I would never have known if she hadn't told me. I think the whole thing is more stressful for the parents. For my friend, they did most of her surgeries and corrective therapy when she was so little, she hardly remembers it. janet1972 -

Monday, 12 Oct Congrats on you baby boy. Sorry to hear about his foot, but if thats all that is wrong (and it is correctable) then you still have a healthy baby! Everything will be ok, it can be fixed and your baby will have a good life after that. mmyof3angels -
