21-4-2008 - PLATIC BOTTLES curiousMy mood while writing this blog:
curious

Hey everyone:

Well the weirdest thing happend, not that this is a hige concern for me, cause I am going to be breast feeding, but thinking of pumping and using a bottle the odd time, cause I had my yougest daughter ont he breast till she was 3, and that was not fun, never had a bottle baby b4,a nd this is # 5, But anyhow, I am 30 wks and 3 days pregnant with a boy,a nd I live in Canada, Ontario, anyhow, I went tio Zellars to pick up a few bottles or a set to have just incase, with some last mon things, and I was informed by the lady working there that they have been atken off the market, there was a few left onclearence but thay have all been recalled!

Makes sence why wall mart had no bottles the same wk. I heard something months ago on the news about plastice bottles causing sids and the palstic making babies die and get ill ,a cuse posion that gets into the milk when the bottle is heated or warm milk is in it, something that is made in the plastic!

So anyhow, the Lady took me over to were she was loading new stock and showed me the plain old fashion glass bottles, 4 onz ones and 8 onz, there cute cause there different, but???? I hate glass anyow I had not much choice so I bought a few, just wondering if anyone else has plastic bottles off the market and recalled where they are yet?

They did have 3 bag bottles ( which are my fav) there close to the breat nipple, so i also grabbed one of tehm, not sure if theya re recalled as well, But there was only 3! anyhow just curious on everyones thougts and if u guys still ahve plastic bottles where u are so leave me a messgae and let me know thanks!

To comment on the plastic baby bottles. There is a chemical in some plastics called BPA (bisphenol-A) that has recently been found to be linked to an increased risk of developing cancer. In Canada, there has just been a recall of most plastics that contain higher levels of BPA and are used in drinking containers (mostly baby bottles and reusable drink bottles from Nalgene and such). From what I hear, more of the BPA leaches into the drink when the bottle is heated in the microwave and such, so that's why they're worried. If you look at the bottom of your plastic containers or bottles, there should be a little recycling symbol with a number in it. From what I remember, the ones with a number 7 in the recycling symbol have higher levels of BPA and are the ones being recalled. If you need more information, I would recommend typing in "baby bottles" and BPA into Google or something and I'm sure there's a whole pile of articles about it if you're worried. Good luck!

I read up on plastic bottles a few months ago, ones made with a certain material can cause problem if put in the dishwasher or microwave.

I bought the soothies, they're newer plastic bottles and I didn't see that it had whatever it was that coused the problems in babies. Nor have any of them been recalled.

I do agree about the bag bottles though, I have several of them as well. Do you remember the name brand of the ones that were recalled?
