| 16-5-2008 - Up-Coming Surgery | My mood while writing this blog:Nervous/Anxious |
Hello ladies!
Well as most of you know I have been dealing with my crazy huge Fibroid or "FIREBALL" as my family and I have nicknamed it. It grew during pregnancy from 2cm to a whopping 19cm and since having Gage has only gone down to 11cm. I am measuring the size of a 20 week pregnancy and I'm over the whole preggo look now!!!!! I was told by my Gyn that I would need a Hysterectomy but I wasn't real happy with that. I'm only 30 and would very much like to preserve my fertility. I told him that and he referred me to a fertility specialist who just so happens to be an expert on Fibroids. She has been a Godsend and she says that my Uterus has not been damaged at all and that I am a candidate for a new procedure that is alot less invasive. It's a laproscopic procedure done by a robot (robotic arms that the surgeon controls) gotta love modern technology!!!! I have had to go on an injection called Depo-Lupron which has put me in a temporary menopause. The Lupron is used to shrink the tumor some so that it's a little easier for the robotic arms to move around. Other than the HOT FLASHES I have not experienced any crazy symptoms. I am having my surgery on June 11th. I am nervous but excited too! I have been in excruciating pain since having Gage and my periods have me doubled over at times. I'm ready to move on and feel NORMAL again. The only bad part is the Hospital stay and having to be away from Gage for the first time. I'm really going to miss him. I won't be able to hold him for a few weeks-which is really going to suck. The great thing is that I have tons of family and friends that have already started a schedule to help Dean and I out while i'm recovering. I feel very blessed to have such a huge support system!!! I am thinking of asking the Dr. for pics of my Fibroid so I can send out Birth Announcements (JUST KIDDING!!!!!!).
