My mood while writing this blog: tired |
On Friday morning our heater wasn't working properly so my husband tore it apart and had to go get parts to fix it. It's cold here in KY so I got some stuff together to head to my mom's until it was fixed after my husband left for the parts. On the way to my mom's I decided to stop at my hubby's grandparents house because it had been my bday and they had a card at their house for me. Abby was sleeping in her carseat when we stopped and her head was kind of leaning forward a little. I pushed her head back and covered her up with her cozy cover and went on in the house like normal. I uncovered in the house and she was having a seizure. Hubby's grandparents and my other 3 children were there as well. I quickly got her out of her carseat and put her on the loveseat on her side and called 911 to get some help on the way. What I saw of her seizing was only about 3 minutes long but felt like hours. The ambulance got there about 10-15 minutes later and transported her and I to the local hospital. One that I am not too high in, but it's the closest one. They told me right from the start that she would most likely be transferred to the Children's Hospital in Lexington. So they finally after several tries got an iv started and ran some bloodwork. And couldn't find anything. So they went ahead and transferred her and I to Lexington via ambulance. Of course during this time, my mom had gotten my other children from the grandparents and took them to her house and my husband had gotten home and answered the phone calls that had been pouring to be notified of what was going on. So he headed back right back to where we were. Then he had to go back home to fix the heat so that the water wouldn't freeze while we were gone. We got to Lexington and spent most of the night in the emergency department waiting on a room upstairs. They ran alot of tests including a spinal tap, eeg and mri to try and figure out what kind of seizure she had. We spent 5 days and 4 nights there and they didn't figure out what kind it was and couldn't tell us if she would have another or what caused it. We have Diastat suppositories if she ever has another one, but she has to seize for 5 minutes or more before we can give it to her to stop a seizure.
