| 11-1-2009 - Scare | My mood while writing this blog:better now |
Well we certainly had a little scare over the weekend!! Saturday morning I woke up and needed to use the restroom.....I felt a little gush and didn't think anything of it, but then when I wiped...there was blood!!! I of course went into panic mode, run out into the living room to tell Craig. We called the Dr. and he insisited that we go to the hospital to get things checked out. All I could keep thinking about was that our little one wasn't ready to come out yet!! We arrived at the Labor Delivery, I was hooked up to the monitors that would monitor his heart rate and also monitor if I were having any contractions. He seemed to be fine...his heart rate was normal and was moving around like crazy!! That was a relief!! The contractions monitor was picking up some contractions, but I wasn't feeling them, other than a little tightening. The U/S tech came in, they were going to make sure there wasn't any placenta abruption or any complications with my low lying placenta. Things looked good there too...in fact the placenta had moved away from the cervix like they had hoped. Baby looked good and has certainly grown the last time we saw him at 19 weeks. He was weighing in at about 2 pounds 11 ounces!! SO what was causing the bleeding?!?!?! The nurse checked to see if my cervix was closed....it was, so I was not dilating. The nurse had decided to get a urine sample because I was having to use the restroom a lot. Before I got pregnant I suffered A LOT of bladder infections....in fact last week I was just thinking to myself that I hadn't had one since I'd been pregnant....looks like I had jinxed myself!!!! My urine sample came back with Nitrates and blood which meant I indeed had a bladder infection. That still didn't explain the bleeding from my vagina?!?! The Dr. is convinced that it is directly correlated with the bladder infection, something to do with the irritaion of the bladder caused the bleeding and also the light contractions I was having. I must say, I as SOOOO relieved that it was bladder infection and not our little one wanting to come out!!!!!!! I'm on antibotics and am feeling better.
We have a regular Dr. appointment this coming Friday with another U/S(which was scheduled prior to this little mishap). I'll be glad to see him again and to just get another confirmation that everything is fine!!!
I have to say that prior to this scare, this pregnancy had been smooth sailing!! I hope it goes back to normal and no more scares!!! Craig was awesome....he was very supportive and did a wonderful job at calming me down!! I think that he was probably just as scared, but couldn't show it because he knew that would only scare me more.
