12-9-2009 - Home from the HOSPITAL!

What a crazy whirlwind last few days! I was sitting at home on Wednesday and I noticed I was having ALOT of BH. But something seemed different with them. They were hurting my back and radiating down my legs, not the typical just in my belly BH. So I started timing them. 4-7 minutes apart. Hmmm. I didnt want to overreact but the more I felt them I couldnt ignore them. I was just turning 34 weeks and I know my doctors cutoff is 35-36 weeks so I was just before the time they probably wouldnt even treat me so I called L&D. They said to come in (of course they would say that) and I decided to go in so they could just say everything was fine and I could go home and sleep.

Well, they hook me up to the monitor and yup, every 4-7 minutes big contractions with little irritable ones in between. So basically I was contracting like every minute. It sucked. My nurse was mean and I was bawling like a baby. She checked my cervix which hurt like hell. So basically Im dilated to a 3 and 80% effaced. Last week when my DR checked I was only a 1 and 60% so it was a change and they didnt want to chance me going home and going into labor so I was admitted.

Mag. How I HATE mag. Seriously it did not stop the contractions, it made me so looped, my eyes were spinning, I was hot, nauseaus and confined to a bed. I had a catheter that hurt like hell and I was peeing a liter every two hours. No joke. The nurses kept telling me how most people do not pee this much on Mag. Good thing my hubby did not leave my side and drained my catheter for me. It kept getting airlocked and my bladder was full. I was on that for two days which is the max and then they weaned it down and were going to give me terbutaline. Well, the terbutaline WORKED! The contractions stopped. Basically my body got used to the Nifedipine I was taking before so it stopped working. The Dr. said that preterm labor is so hard to treat and predict since everyone responds so differently to different things. So they rechecked me before letting me go home and said I could. Yay!

I was getting so prepared to have her at 34 weeks. I am so happy to atleast buy a little time. I really just want her to be healthy and be able to come straight home with us-not have to stay in the NICU. I want her to have chubby cheeks and swallow and breathe just right. I think once they say I dont have to take the meds anymore it shouldnt be too long. How crazy would it be if I had to be induced after all this? LOL! The nurses told me that has happened before. One of the nurses said the mag didnt work for her either but nothing did and she had her baby at 27 weeks! Wow! He is fine now but had to stay in the NICU for a while. It was totally weird being the patient and I hope to never have to experience this again.

This last trimester has really been hard for me. It was sooo easy before. Seriously, as of right now, this baby will be an only child!!! I dont want to have to do this all again. (ok maybe :)) So now I am going to take it easy at home (again) and take this mommy meth called terbutaline and hope for the best!

I had the same thing happen at 33 weeks with my son, and it only held me off for 3 weeks, and he was born big and healthy at 36 weeks! So good luck and take it easy!

Wow, everyday that she can stay in there is a miracle at this point. I wish you the best and sorry it has been such an ordeal.

Keep hanging in there, just a little bit longer. Then you can breath a sigh of relief when its over. BUT thats when the real work starts, Hah. Big hugs xx

Hi, I AM PLEASED THAT YOU ARE HOME FROM THE HOSPITAL WITH BABY BUMP STILL IN TOW. I KNOW HOW READY WE ALL ARE TO MEET OUR LO BUT LIKE YOU SAID NOT UNTIL THEY ARE FULLY COOKED AN WELL ENOUGH TO COME HOME WITH US. YOU HAVE SHOWN GREAT STRENGTH DEALING WITH ALL THIS AND I JUST KNOW THAT U R GOING TO BE AN AMAZING MUMMY WHEN YOUR PRECIOUS BABY MAKES HIS APPEARANCE. LOTS OF DELAYED LABOUR DUST TO YOU AND REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE ALOT OF US THINKING OF YOU AND YOUR BABY AND WISHING YOU WELL

I'm so glad that the meds worked and she has a little more time inside. The longer the better! At least another 3 weeks would be perfect! I guess she's a little impatient. :) Stay strong and rest.

Im glad to hear you and baby are okay!! It's funny how all doctors are different. My doctor tells me once u hot 34 weeks the don't stop labor. I just got my cerclage out on friday, I'm 35 weeks and 3 days and Thank God no baby yet... I'd like her to atleast hang in there to week 36, week 37 would be even better. Get some rest!! I am so glad to hear that your little bun is still in the oven. I know this whole mess must have been really scarey. Having your husband by your side must have been a great comfort. I will continue to pray that she will stay in atleast for a few more weeks.

Geeze Girl! What else do you and hubby have to go through?! I hope this is it until your past 37, but if not she will be fine! You have very good instinct and you listen to it! I don't know what I would do if I had been dealing with what you have had to. Sorry you had such an awful stay at the hospital too. Were you in the maternity ward that you'll be having her at? If that's the case I hope you have different nurses! Loads of luck through the next few weeks!
