My mood while writing this blog: ok now |
Hi Ladies
I woke up this morning, no kicks from little Emily. Got up, made a bacon sandwich for Steve and I (yum) it was about 6am, no kicks. Steve left for work about 7.30am and I sat down on the sofa. I started to worry a bit because I hadnt noticed Emily.
So I got up, drank lots of cold milk and laid on my left side on the sofa. Nothing.
By about 9am I am starting to get upset, so I called Steve who was still on the road and told him that I am worried as Emily was really busy on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but yesterday she was very quiet. I thought she was just having a lazy day but no movement at all is really scary.
Steve suggested I try the doppler, so I went upstairs and put it on. I found the heartbeat quite quickly, it was strong and regular. Normally Emily kicks the doppler, but again no movement. I distinctly remember the midwife saying that movement was important as the heartbeat will not necessarily tell you that the baby is sick.
So, I called the antenatal clinic and asked if a heartbeat with no movement was ok at 28 weeks. The receptionist went off to speak to a midwife and I started to cry. Bless, she was so sweet to me when she came back on the phone and said come down and we will monitor the baby. I left immediately - red eyed!. They hooked me up to the monitor to measure contractions and the heartbeat and I had to hit the little button whenever she kicked.
Emily kicked almost immediately! then she went very quiet. The alarm on the machine went off, luckily the midwife had explained this will happen if she moves away from the monitor. We found her again, and I drank several cups of very cold water. After waiting about ten minutes (felt like a lifetime) she started to go nuts!! Lmao. She kicked the monitor away and was flipping around all over. I cant tell you how relieved I was. The machine showed no contractions which is what we expected.
After that I told the midwife I was ok to come off of the machine. She said for 28 weeks, Emily is showing good stats. If I get worried again, I am to call straight back and they will monitor again and scan me if I need more reassurance. I love my local maternity unit they are just excellent.
When I got out of the hospital I switched on my phone. I had voicemails and texts from Steve sending his love and hoping we were both ok. One of them said he had cried a bit cos he was so worried. Aww bless him x x I love my husband more than ever.
So so happy to know that she is ok! She is still quieter than normal but every now and again, Emily lets mummy know she is doing ok. PHEW!!
I will post a weekly blog tomorrow. Hope you are all grrrrrrreat!!! yay!! long weekend in the UK and the weather is going to be nice! cant wait to spend time with Steve x x
Love you all, Rach & Naughty Miss Emily-Rose x x

Saturday, 23 May Oh hun, thank god everything is ok, I'm crying now! She was probably just really comfy or asleep or something. Your midwives and maternity home sound so nice, I don't know if ours would be as accomodating. Enjoy your weekend now and get lots of rest if you can. xxx utopianite -
Friday, 22 May I'm glad that everything ended up ok. :-) Her space in your tummy starts getting more and more cramped now. I know it's scary not feeling anything for several hours though.

Friday, 22 May Thank goodness everything is OK. It's interesting how different babies can be - my mom told me she never did feel a single kick with any of the three of us. My little Zoë went bananas for 2 days after my glucose tolerance test, and now has been resting for over a week - nothing but very small flutters. I don't think we'll ever stop worrying about our little ones... Abigails Mommy -

He scares the life outta me little monkey! And theres mornings when i wake up with Ellie do our brekkie and drive her to school and he hasn't budged at all and im soo eager to get home relax and focus in on him and see if i am just missing his suttle moves because they aren't always big strong ones most of my pregnancy iv'e had this and iv'e said to me i can't feel him and iv'e been quite tearful and after abit of time he has woken up and started wiggling about for me! I know how scared you must of been because you put it to the back of your mind for a bit then you think something ain't right here and freak out which is totally understandable! Anyway so pleased she put your mind at rest in the end even though you had to go to the hospital but she's well worth it! Enjoy your weekend loads of love steph x x x rooey -

Which if you think about it makes sence..but still I totally understand being scared I know I was. But I am def. very very glad little emily is A-OKAY! Lou83 -
