| 24-8-2009 - Emily-Rose is here!!!!!! |
My mood while writing this blog: totally overwhelmed |
Hi Ladies
From a very very happy house!!!
Emily-Rose and I got home from hospital after a pretty traumatic birth. I will leave the details to the birth story but suffice to say she was delivered by emergency c-section on Friday 21st August at 15.57. She weighed a healthly 8lbs and 15oz. Of course, she is completely perfect!!!!
I now understand why new mummies cant get on line after the birth, things are hectic and hard but wonderful and fun at the same time. I havent a clue what day or time it is!! lol
All is going great with Emily, she has Daddy completely in love and totally wrapped around her little finger already (I didnt expect anything less). I am sore from the c-section but managing to move around ok once I am up. Getting in and out of bed is a challenge!!!
*If anyone who has had a c-section has any helpful bit of advice to make the next few days slightly less painful I would love it*
So I am going to make myself a lovely cup of tea whilst Emily-Rose and daddy are chilling out together, already got the first load of her washing on and had a yummy shower this morning. I promise I will make time to upload some of the pics we have taken so far and get my birth story up.
I just wanted to pop on and thank all the friends on Facebook for their lovely messages, I will read and cherish every one of them.
Lots of love and dirty nappies (diapers),
Rach & Emily-Rose x x x

Tuesday, 25 Aug OMG! Congrats MOMMA!!!! What a big girl! They were right huh? I'm sorry to hear you had a complicated birth, but I am very happy everyone is healthy. I have had 2 c sections now, and as you know I am currently 2 weeks post op with my second, so feel free to ask any questions you may have. And an abdominal binder is a MUST!!! It really helps with the pain and helps get your belly back in order quicker. I hope you, daddy and Miss Emily Rose are all healthy and happy and I can't wait to see pictures :) christinesc -
Tuesday, 25 Aug Congrats again, honey! When I had my C-Section, I used a bag of frozen peas on my scar (wrapped in a light cloth) and kept up with my pain meds. It really won't last that long. Hope you have a speedy healing time. Now post some pics, woman!!! haha (like you have a lot of time on your hands) xoxoxo welshgirl -
Tuesday, 25 Aug Congrats, had a feeling she had arrived when your werent online. Nice healthy weight too! Savvy -
Tuesday, 25 Aug Congrats on ur Miss Emily. After 1 wk it will be better to get out of bed. I took 2 advil and 1 tylenol as per my doc. 2 times per day i use to kind of "pull up" my belly and lie in front of a fan, so the incision would get the fan air, it would dry it properly and healed faster. Enjoy ur little girl and if u need any help, u can always ask me...take care of ur self and Miss Emily Rose. tassy -

Monday, 24 Aug HI there! Yay congrats mama!!! I also had a emergency c-section and it was pretty bad for the first 2 weeks...but I am 4 weeks out now and feel about 90% back to normal! Getting in and out of bed is a chore since you need your ab muscles to do that so my advice is get help, when you need to get up and down have hubby help, wrap your arms around his neck and have him help you get up and down...and really take it easy and dont hesistate to let friends and family help you for a while! I am so happy for you girly:) Congrats again...we did it!!!! stepheni775 -

Monday, 24 Aug I'm so sorry to hear about the c-section. That's how my first birth ended too. All I can tell you is not to go near any stairs, and take as many pain meds as they'll give you because you're not going to be feeling well at all for a good 2-3 weeks. And be very careful when you stand up. Get someone to help whenever you can. Your baby's a few ounces bigger than I guessed too! I can't wait to see pictures of her, and again... Congratulations to you! :-) mummyyumyum -

Monday, 24 Aug Myself having 2 c-sections WALK! Dont over due walking, but walk... you heal ALOT faster and it helps with the pain.. also instead of sleeping in bed, try a recliner it makes it easier to get up and down. Also if you have to cough or sneeze it WILL be painful and make sure you have a pillow with you and push on your incision when you cough or sneeze it kinda relieves the pain. If you have a back brace you can wrap that around your waist covering your incision and that helps, any kind of pressure against it helps. My best peice of advise is to walk though.. Its the only advise my sister gave me after her LOL 5th c-section and it was the best advise. priddy-mama -
Monday, 24 Aug Aww...YAY!! CONGRATS!!! masonnickey -
Monday, 24 Aug Congrats Rach! I'm so happy that Emily Rose is here! One thing I suggest is asking your doctor about a belly bind, I got mine from motherhood and one from Jcpenny online, see if they suggest it as long as its not real tight! Also if you have to cough or sneeze use a pillow to hold by your tummy to protect it from the sudden movement. Also one thing that's important is staying on top of your pain meds! Take them even if you start to feel better because they help keep the pain away. Good luck! supaflychick1982 -
Monday, 24 Aug Congrats!!! All the pain is worth it though. You brought a beautiful life into the world. I'm sorry you couldn't have the delivery the way you wanted but she's a big, healthy girl!! MrsMommy2 -
Monday, 24 Aug Congrats! And welcome to the world Emily!!! As far as the c-section goes you should be feeling much better a week after. The worse part is always getting up I thought. Our bed was to high off the ground for me to comfortably get in and out of so for the first week or 2 I actually slept on the couch it actually ended up being easier that way having Wyatt in his bassinet or swing right next to me for the first month when he didn't have his days and nights together. Also I found when I would be sitting on the couch through out the day put a pillow behind you and use a nursing pillow when you feed emily reguardless of if you are nursing or bottle feeding the extra padding behind you is more comfortable and makes it easier to get back up! The more active you stay the faster you will heal w/ Wyatt I was out grocery shopping w/ my mom when Wyatt was 5 days old cause wyatt was so small he actually wore premie diapers the first almost 2 weeks he swam in the newborn size! So hang in there i'm sure you'll discover little tricks that make you more comfortable jusst take it easy you'll be feeling much better in a few days! Congrats again i'm soo soo happy for you and your family! katie-g -

Monday, 24 Aug I am so happy for you hun! I'm glad you're doing okay. Sorry you had to go through the trauma of an emergency c-section. I expected nothing less than Emily Rose to have her daddy wrapped around her little finger. Sounds like she's going to be daddy's girl. LOL Take care hun! mmyof3angels -

Monday, 24 Aug CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! jen -
Monday, 24 Aug Soooo Happy for you!!I had an emergency c-section myself, and I have to say some of the things that helped me out the most were holding a pillow over my incision site when I needed to cough or sneeze and try not to laugh, as that will hurt too. Avoid stairs also!! Going down stairs not so bad, going up them, a whole different story! And you will regret it afterwards! Ouch! It will take a while to heal, so get help where you can. Have hubby hand Emily to you to feed and try to bend over as less as you can. I was sore for months afterward....not to the point where it was unbareable, but if pressure was put on the incision site just right, it would hurt. My doc told me there would or could be residual pain or numbness for up to a year. And there was. But you look at your beautiful baby and all the pain goes away!! Congrats to your and your new, larger family!! cheyni -

Monday, 24 Aug Wow Rach, congratulations. Sorry things didn't go as planned, but at least Little Miss Emily is here now. Yay, I'm so happy for you guys. Wishing you all the luck for the days, weeks and months to come. I hope she is everything you wanted and more!! DiandClover -
Monday, 24 Aug Congrats again hun! I am so glad to hear that she is here, dramatic, emergency entry aside! I had a section, and I just advise you to really take it easy and don't do too much too fast. You may feel ok, then suddenly you find your scar opening or getting sore again! Try to bend as little from the waist as possible. Wrap some ice or frozen peas in a towel and keep it at your belly as much as you can (but not enough to get frost bite! Wrap it well.) Always sit somewhere you can brace yourself to get up, or better yet have someone help you to sit up and sit down. Take advantage of any help that is offered to you - hubby, parents and friends will be your best resource now!! Take care, and enjoy your sweet Emily-Rose! debsandgrace -
