| 31-12-2009 - Emily-Rose update | My mood while writing this blog:in love! |
Love her. She is really quite unwell. Its the first time she has had any issues, its so hard seeing her struggling. I cant explain to her that she will be better soon and that she needs to take her medicine. She just gets upset when I try giving it to her, then cries which starts her coughing, then she cant breathe and so the cycle continues :(
Apart from the illness over the past few days, she is doing really great. She is weighing over 18lbs now and is already wearing 6-9 month clothes even though she was only 4 months on 21st!! she really is big for her age. I will post some pics when I get a moment.
She really has a great little personality now, which is really happy and friendly. She is always smiling and laughing. Although occasionally when I havent read her mind correctly, she soon lets me know that mummy has got it wrong! lol. She certainly knows what she wants and how to get it!
Her body is really strong, she can sit up on her own for short periods and likes to stand (aided of course) on our laps. Her baby massage classes and tummy time are working a treat. We have been swapping babies around at the groups I go to so the babies are comfortable with other people, this has worked a great as at Christmas Emily-Rose was very happy to sit with all the family members as she was passed around from person to person for cuddles lol.
She is starting to look more like her daddy now, which Steve loves! lol. He loves to point out to anyone who will listen which bits of her are just like him (eyes, ears, toes....etc) very cute. He is a great daddy, he is so patient with Emily. He loves to cuddle up to her on the sofa. He takes his turns with the dirty nappies but he is not very confident with bathing her or feeding her (we have given her puree for breakfast a couple of times).
I am looking forward to weaning Emily-Rose, I am going to try and leave it a little longer as I am going to mainly go for baby led weaning, so she needs to be a little older although she is taking a great interest in what mummy and daddy are eating so I think she will pick it up pretty quickly. I am still breastfeeding all of the time (apart from the occasional puree) which I find soooo easy now. I cant believe how much of a struggle it was at the beginning, it was so worth persevering. She will take a dummy now when she is very tired or in the car but she point blank refuses bottles and certainly will not accept formula. So I think she will go from breast straight to a cup. I have given her the cup a few times just to play around with, she puts it straight in her mouth......as she does with most things to be fair! lol
So thats a brief update for now. I want to say sorry to you all for not being on here enough. I started back to work on 14th Dec so I havent had a moment to myself. But I will put some time in my work diary to sneak on here to keep in touch with you all!!! it will say 'confidential' but I will know it means update IAP!! hehe. Thats new years resolution number 1, I think I will have a big list this year :0)
