I dont know how many I have told but my oldest son was diagnosed with Chiari 1 Malformation Feb 2nd. He is symptomatic and has been out of school for 3 weeks. He is 14. He has another MRI tomorrow (herniation is 12mm) They will be doing a spinal fluid flow test as well as full spine scan to look for any syrinx (fluid filled cyst that can form from chiari compression) This test will determine how much skull bone needs to be removed and if any vertibre also needs to be removed for decompression. We are hoping the tests do not show any syrinx and that surgery will not be delayed any longer. Not all surgeries are successful so praying his is. We have the best peds neurosurgeon! WIll know more tomorrow ~ TX so much!!
