30-8-2008 - Thomas' relapse

Thomas had a relapse yesterday. Right before noon I got a call from the baby room at the school and they were informing me that Thomas was having a seizure. I dropped the phone ran over to the room and saw him finish up his seizure. I held him afterwards and called his pediatrician. I went back to my class while waiting for an answer from his dr. At 1:30 my husband arrived at the school and as we were both there Thomas had another seizure at 1:45. I can't even think about what Thomas is going through w/ these seizures... are they painful...and whatnot. I try to block out the image of Thomas seizing b/c it looks so terrible... We went to the pedi yesterday and they said everything that they could see looked normal. They started him on a different kind of medicine ad will send him for a sedated MRI and EEG next week. I hope everything turns out negative and that there is nothing major causing these seizures.

we are praying for your family and especially lil thomas. have faith hun and be strong for him. all will be fine at the end the lord does not abandon his children. we have your back schoppes.

awww sorry to hear you are going through this. My oldest son suffered from epilepsy for years and i know how horrible it is to see your child seizing and not being able to do anything. I will tell you though, as my son was older and he could talk about it, he had no memory of the actual seizure and other then being tired and his body sore he had no pain involved. I hope it is some comfort that he is not suffering pain from these. It's probably harder on the people watching then the one having it. I also know more often then not children who have seizures outgrow them by the time they are 12 or so and the cause is generally not known (as in nothing serious they can find). I am sure they will figure out his triggers and it will be a lifestyle change to make sure those are minimized and it will get much better for you. Good luck! I sure hope your little angel is doing better soon.

OMG...that has to be your worst nightmare, I cant imagine what you are going through, I so so sorry. I hope things will be ok for little Thomas.
