| 17-11-2008 - My Birth Story | My mood while writing this blog:Ok |
Well it all started on Thursday evening - 13 November 2008 around 8pm. I was having these little pains (just assumed they were Braxton Hicks Contractions).... I'd gone to bed and the pains became more frequent. I couldn't sleep so decided to get up and rest on the couch.
Come early hours of Friday morning - 14 November 2008, I phoned my midwife to tell her that these pains were more frequent, and she asked me to phone her back when they were three in 10 ten minutes.
Phoned her back at 4.30am and said that they were inbetween 2-4 minutes and that I'd had a show, so she asked me to meet her at the hospital (not thinking that I would be delivering our son a few hours later).
The contractions were getting stronger and it took me at least half an hour to organise myself and wait for my Mum to turn up to watch the kids (who were soundly sleeping). Then Damien and I drove to the hospital arriving about 5.30am.
I got settled into the Water Birthing Suite. My MW checked bubs and I and said that I was 8cms dilated and that she would need to break my waters. Out come this long plastic looking crochet type hook (I freaked out), but she assured me I wouldn't feel a thing - except for my waters.
What a weird feeling it was.
My bath was run and I jumped in the water, it felt so relaxing straight away!! Our son Bayley was delivered with one push and put straight into my arms at 7.10am, 14 November 2008. He was so tiny, having only weigh 6lbs. I was scared to hold him.
But it's AMAZING the love you feel for your child when you hold him/her in your arms for the first time - looking at this perfectly formed little human being, something any woman has got to be proud of!!
