27-7-2009 - Midwife appt today

My mood while writing this blog: Feeling good

Hey,

Well had my 32week check up 2day & things look good. Baby is measuring just as she should & heard her little heart beating like crazy again! It was actually quite nice to see the midwife for a change rather than the doctor & she was really lovely, had written a few things down to ask her about & got the majority of them answered which was good:

1. Water birth - I asked her if she was a fan of water birthing & whether she recommended it & she said that

she would definitely recommend women to go for it as it was calming for both mother & child

2. Perineal massage - She also thought this was a good idea & said that research proved to significantly

reduce tearing

3. Maternity payment - Pregnant women are entitled to a payment of £190 so I got a form for it

4. Pain relief - The hospital I will be giving birth in does not have the facility for an epidural (I don't want an

epidural) but If I am in too much pain apart from gas & air they can give pethadine (sp?) &

other pain relief

As I say it was just nice to see a midwife & she also said that I should take a tour of the labour ward & the birthing centre so going to do that this Sunday.
