16-8-2009 - Hospital tour

My mood while writing this blog: Chillin

Went on a tour of the birthing centre in the hospital where I will be hopefully having the baby ( I say hopefully as this hospital is for people with low risk pregnancies & if there were any complications & I needed a c-section I would have to be transferred to another hospital about 20mins away) but this a much quieter hospital & I like a lot of the maternity carers there - they can't administor epidurals here either & only have gas, air & pethedine (sp?) but I want to use this birthing centre so I am just going to go for it & as it's my 1st I am not going to know what to expect am I?

There are 3 delivery rooms & they are all lovely - I want the water birth so i want the room with the birthing pool in it but if someone else is using it I obviously can't so prayin that it's free when she decides to make an entrance - it's lovely & calming & everything is cream & blue & I got a good feeling when I went in there.

They had a private room there that you can pay to use (£175 a night) but I don't know If I like the idea of being shut in a room on my own so I will go in the shared room to recover, it had 4 beds in it & looked clean & tidy with 4 cute little glass cots in them.

That was about it really, the birthing centre has about 25 births a month so that probably gives u an idea on how many people use this centre, I think a lot of people would rather go to the bigger hospital incase there are complications but the alternative for me is a massive, scary, extremely busy hosptial & I think I'll take my chances at the centre.

p.s. Has anyone else got a real extreme appetite for everything? (sorry tmi) I have been eating like an animal & am even finishing off my familes dinner if they can't eat it - I ate a massive roast dinner & toffee & apple pudding with custard a few hours ago & now I want another dinner???? Also can't get enough sex - biginning to think I may have a problem!xxx
