| 26-9-2009 - My baby girl born 18th Sept | My mood while writing this blog:Extremely happy |
Well everyone, It's been a little while since I last blogged but my little princess Isla-Jean was born eight days ago weighing 7pounds 1 1/2 ounces-It all started Thursday 17th September, I was getting fed up cos was over my due date & decided to walk into town with Marc (it's a 20min walk) & then once we had been shopping I thought that if maybe we walked back I might help start labour & funny enough on the way back I started having really strong contractions so came home & got on my spacehopper & bounced for a bit & then contractions started to became painful so went to hospital.
The hospital put me on a machine to check for babies movements & then sent me to the birthing centre - The contractions were awful & like no pain I have ever felt before, I had gas & air to try & get through them & was sitting on a massive bean bag chair for what felt like hours (my labour lasted about 5 1/2 hours) when I got to 8cm dilated the midwife (who was a very good looking spanish man - result) ran the birthing pool - straight away the warm water helped with my back pain.
The birthing pool was probably the best thing I could have done, was so relaxing & when the time came to push I just held onto the rails in the pool & pushed as hard as I could, it took about 10-15 pushes before she came but all of a sudden I felt a whoosh between my legs & she ended up against my chest & I was holding her - she is so beautiful & it's a really weird feeling being a Mum but am getting there with the help of my Mum (who has been my rock) & my sisters & Marc (who has taken to fatherhood very well)
As for labour, it hurt & I had to have a few stitches ( I sit on hot water bottles to ease the pain & it works) but it's just something u have to do & my mindset was just to get on with it & the midwife said I'd done really well so am pleased. As for my little princess Isla, she is a great baby & only wakes me up twice a night for food, I love the way she looks at me & can honestly say that this little girl has truly stolen my heart!
Congrats to everyone that has had their babies & good luck to the preggos.x
