27-3-2009 - 13w NT scan

My mood while writing this blog: strangely upbeat

I had my second attempt at an NT scan on Thursday. It went well! The baby behaved for the initial u/s tech who tried to get some measurements. During the scan I jokingly said "If you feel like taking a look between the legs, go right ahead!" She laughed and said she'd look but coudnt make promises. So when she looked, it was pretty obvious there was something there between the legs! However, she said it COULD be the umbilical cord, but if she had to guess she'd say BOY! I have always felt it was a Boy. I felt like my first pregnancy was a girl and I was right then.

Anyway, the actual Dr apparently didnt like the placement of the measurements the tech did, so she came in to do her own. The baby would NOT behave for her. He had flipped over, sat up, stuck his bum at her, etc. The Dr was jiggling my belly to get him to settle down in a good position, and at one point the baby turned towards the "camera" and raised his hand up! I thought to myself "He doesnt like that, and he's giving you the finger!" I laughed out loud but didnt say what I was thinking.

So the measurement was 1.8mm which is below 3.0 but middle of the road, so the Dr said that if the highest rating I could give is A+ I'd give you an A. I'll take that! So as long as the bloodwork comes back negative, I think we're in the clear.

Other than that, nothing new to report. Absolutely NO spotting or bleeding. I'm amazed. I had almost constant spotting in my first pregnancy but I wasnt on blood pressure medicine at the time. Now I am, and once my dosage was upped, no more spotting! I'm starting to get my hopes up I think...

I posted the scans from my 12week NT attempt and the 13week NT attempt!

I cant wait to get big and fat (well, fattER lol)!!

i've just read your entire story and i bawled my eyes out and laughed too. you seem like a very strong person and i wish nothing but the best for you. i am praying so hard that your baby boy arrives in this world in prime health and you get to finally enjoy the trials and tribulations of motherhood. i can think of no one else that deserves it more! be strong and happy and i really think this one is going to work out. motherhood really starts from conception and we just have to take it one step and breathe at a time. there are many painful moments, but so much joy that it over rides the bad. i look forward to sharing this journey with you, please keep in touch...

AWESOME!!! WOW - that is a great measurement for your NT mine is 2mm and she said that's very common, so you should feel so relieved yours only measures 1.8mm, they say in mm, point (figures) are inportant... I am glad your bean is super well! awesome.... i am so happy for you - keep well....
