My mood while writing this blog: releived

So I had my big ultrasound today! I was so nervous going on. Especially since I havent felt much the past few days. She starts looking at the head first, and Im thinking to myself...can we check the heart first and make sure its still beating? lol However as she was looking at the brain I saw a jump and I let out a big sigh lol She spent a lot of time measuring parts of the brain and moved on to the belly, and measured organs there. She couldnt get a good picture of the heart but she said it looks normal, but couldnt get good measurements. She asked if we knew what it is, and I said about 99% sure its a boy. She said well lets bump that up to 100%..it's definitely a boy! yay!! She measured his foot, which was 3cm! wow thats huge for how small he is! lol He weights 13 ounces, which she said is right where I should be! Wow..close to a whole pound! hehe Plenty of fluid and the cord has 2 arteries and 1 vein! I was quite relieved at that as my first pregnancy only had 1 artery and 1 vein. The Dr came in and said everything is right where it should be, but they want me back in 4 weeks to get another look at the heart because they couldnt get a measurement from his position. She also did a look at my uterine arteries to make sure there was good blood flow because Im at a much higher risk for preeclampsia and toxemia. But everything looked good there so I asked about the symptoms and what I should be watchful for (swelling, massive headaches, rapid weight gain, generally feeling bad, etc). She said I have about a 25% chance of getting preeclampsia (and she stressed a 75% chance of NOT getting it) so they will be watching me and his growth very closely. After my next 4 week appt, I will probably be seen every 2 weeks.

So Im shocked at how well everything is going so far. Im very happy and a lot of my worries are gone (mostly, but not completely of course heh)

He was really kicking around in there!! :) yay!!!!

I hopw his little heart is as perfect as your boy is!! my boy wieghed 12oz at my 20 wk scan, they are soo close to size. They didn't measure his feet or anything. I wish they would have that is soo cool!!

So glad that things are going well this time! Take comfort in the fact that your little angel baby has plenty of playmates. We have lost 5 , the first stillborn at 37 weeks and the others to first trimester M/C the last of which was twins. Wow do you have a name picked out for your little guy yet?

that's awesome news! now you just have to relax and feel him grow inside you! i think the next 8 weeks are the best part of the pregnancy. you have the most amount of energy and baby movement before you start to feel big and uncomfortable, so enjoy every minute of it.

The same thing happened to me he or she was in a bad position back up against my belly and they couldn't get a look at the 4 chambers of the heart so I am going back tomorrow (my first one was last tuesday) however the babys legs were closed and I still don't know what I am having (hoping for the blue team) but as long as he or she is healthy I will be happy... I am glad everything looks good I am happy for you <3 I hope the baby stops be so shy fingers crossed....
