Little Sebastian arrived at 9:40am on Tuesday!! I had a scheduled Csection due to pre-eclampsia. The csection itself was a breeze, the spinal block sucked though. I have a mild case of scoliosis and couldnt arch my back much, so it took a little longer for them to insert it. It felt so strange not being able to feel anything from the chest down!
Sebastan weighed 7lbs 11oz and 19.5in long! He has had a litle trouble with his lungs so he was being given oxygen, but he was working pretty hard at breathing, so they put him on a ventilaor. They said he should only need to be on it for about 48 hours. They think he either had a bunch of fluid on his lungs or they just slightly underdeveloped. But in either case he should be just fine.
He is absolutely adorable and has a head full of dark curly hair.
I only got to touch him at the delivery though, since I had a csection and he s in the NICU. I got to go up and see him, but we cant touch him because he is apparently easily startled and they want hm to remain stress free. I am incredbly sore and its a big ordeal for me to go see him so I only saw him once after I was able to get out of bed. It was really hard to see him like that. This big boy on a vent and all these tubes, I just started crying when I saw him, especially since I cant touch him poor thing.
Brendan though has been up several times to see him. He stayed in the regular nursery just about the entire time and helped give him oxygen. THis morning at 5am when the nurse came in, he asked her when's the earliest he could go tot he NICU. hehe its so cute...I think Brendan got instantly attached.

i'm nearly in tears looking at the photo of you two! i am so thrilled to hear you finally have your little man safely in your arms. there is no more satisfying moment than that! hope you both recover quickly and can't wait to see more photos!

I talked with Salerno and she filled me on at 1:30 Tuesday. She told me that she could have done a "2 for 1" on Tuesday and I asked her straight faced why she didn't offer earlier! She is determined to make me wait until the 25th but I am SOOOOO ready to have this over with. I am starting to get grouchy about it, too. PLEASE post pictures of Sebastian. I am dying to see him!!! Salerno says he looks exactly like you....how sweet!!

Wonderful news, Shellie! I am so happy for you! I hope little Sebastian is doing well up there in the NICU and that you can hold him soon. Make sure you take it easy; a C section recovery can be quite trying, or so I've heard. It's been great sharing this experience with you hon! I'll update you on my little girl when she arrives!! xoxo

Fabulous!! I know what you mean about seeing your baby in the NICU. No picnic, but please take my advice! While you have top notch nurses taking care of your little man, focus on relaxing and letting yourself recover. I did not do that and I ended up with complications after the c-section. Just make sure you are getting lots of rest to let yourself heal.

Glad your both okay! I know it's hard being away from him right now, I experienced it when I had my daughter. Hopefully he'll get to go home with you though! What's worse is going home without your baby! Take care of yourself and rest! You'll need it because once you go home you won't get much of that! :-)
