15-7-2008 - You ARE NOT a baby at 14...move aside for the 4 month old! problem solvingMy mood while writing this blog:
problem solving

Geez I really think I am going to go insane with the biggest problem in my life. My son is 14 and behaves like a little boy.
He does everything
loudly
and as poorly as possible so someone will come along and do it for him. Ex. Hes sweeping the floor right now. He is pushing the dirt around (not sweeping), it is so loud (since when is sweeping loud???), he bangs into walls with the broom, hits the side of the stairs, stirs up dust...etc. When he walks (and I mean day or night) he stomps. When he opens his bedroom door he bangs it open then slams it shut (yes even at 2 in the morning). He even eats loudly! Its repulsive. He slurps salad...how ever it is that you do that! Either he doesn't know what hes doing or doesn't care, either way the outcome is the same on the family. Being absolutely overwhelmed. We have tried everything with him. Its been so bad we are considering writing the Dr Phil show. Not because hes some genius with children, but because he has resources I don't have. He can finance a treatment that we can not afford. I am really overwhelmed with this child. He is terribly behaved.

Wow girl, just came across this blog randomly. If I were in your situation I would take off the door to his room until he is a "big boy" and learns how to shut doors respectfully. What teenager doesn't want privacy??? I would not allow him to go out to dinner or a friends for a meal until he learns how to eat with manners. Say you can't be embarrassed by him at his age. If I gave him a task as simple as sweeping and he did a job like that, I would take away the broom and hand him a wet towel. If he can't handle something as simple as sweeping with a broom, than he can get on his hands and knees and clean the floor with a damp towel. Dumb things down, but not so they are easier, but more difficult and don't give in until he changes. Have you tried anything like that? Stick with it even if he takes hours to do the modified chore! Kids are freaken smart and know how to manipulate their parents. So, backfire everything on him!

You know the sad thing about your blog is that it sounds like my hubby not my 15 yr old son. HE will keep quiet and help me as needed but my husband on the other hand still answers his cell and talks loudly when I am trying to get her down , slams all the darn doors , yells through the house for someone to come when baby s sleeping....ahhh the gripes go on and on....saddest part is weve been together for 16 yrs , married for 11 and are on our 3rd baby and he is still the worst one in the house! Leaves me feeling disrespected and like a nag cuz I have to ask him over and over the same things.....

Hi, Im also a mom to three teens, and I have a 17 yr old and a 15 yr old son. I can sympathize with raising sons (IM using my daughters account...in case u were wondering) any how, just wanted to say that Im sorry u are having such a rough time now. It can be hard raising a baby along with teenagers. Maybe u need a break. My oldest son annoys me to no end sometimes, he is Bipolar 1 and has had a lot of counseling and btw Dr. Phil is one of my favorite shows, in fact Im watching it as I write this. Just wanted u to know u are not alone. Feel free to message me, even if u just need to talk. Sometimes it helps!

I hear ya sister. My 13 year old doesn't care either. It has more to do with chores & personal hygiene than being loud, but nevertheless, it just amazes me that he could care less about stuff. I ask him to sweep the floor.....last time I corrected him 4 times before I did it myself and showed him ALL of the dirt he left behind the first 4 times he swept it....Okay, my house is not that dirty..lol. He folds laundry like He's blind. He only brushes his teeth when I remind him and he doesn't use soap when he showers. Maybe they can go on Dr. Phil together..lol Good Luck, sweetie!
