To potty chain or not to potty train? That is the question!

And if you think I should, and he may be ready, can you give me some pointers :) ??

My daughter basically trained herself, and I know that it's a waste of time to try and train someone who isn't ready but about 5 people have told me that Maveric (Turned 2 May 16th) is ready. I'm like...no...he's not. LOL, only because I don't know where to start! Glad to get that off my chest!

ANYWAY. He never has actually gone in the potty. He tells me he has to poop everytime before he goes and then hides so no one sees him. When I ask him to go on the potty he says, no. He also takes his diaper off constantly and "pretends" to go and wipe.

Then I just had the potty out in the hall (while I was cleaning the bathroom) and he opened it up and took his diaper off and peed all over it...missing it pretty much but doing it all by himself. So then I gave him praise put on some undies thinking I could try it. Well he takes his undies off grabs his diaper and puts it on. AND WONT LET ME KEEP HIS UNDIES ON?

So ready or not??

He sounds ready to start but I wouldn't try to force the underwear on him or aim for total potty training. Just let him run around naked when you're home and let him use the potty. When you stop having accidents or he starts wanting to use the potty away from home I'd try to see if he'll wear the underwear.

Well... I think maybe you should just start using pull ups and if he is saying he wants to go potty let him. if he wets the pull up no biggie just change it. i still think he is pretty young but just introduce the potty to him. My baby turned 2 in Jan. and thats what I have been doing and I feel like he is pretty much potty trained but he sometimes makes accidents. I dont make it a big deal though. And I make sure I let him pick out what kind of underwear he likes(only worn in the house) and show him the cartoons on the pull ups. It just makes him feel proud to have a cartoon character he likes on his booty lol. Especially when its dry.I think its working.
