| 18-7-2008 - An Accident - if there is such a thing! | My mood while writing this blog:better! |
How can an accident make me feel better??! Well, it's not the accident itself, it is the fact that even when these things happen, God is so evidently THERE! In control! Watching. Guarding. Providing.
I have certainly known His providence clearly often in my life, and I was blessed again to experience it markedly last night when my 17-year-old Oliver called me at 11:30 p.m. and said, "Mom, are you sitting down? I'm alright!" He was alone on his way to the theatre to meet friends that he had been visiting with during the evening (Batman opened last night here.) He was going down a hilly street and thinks he had mechanical failure (his car is used; it is possible!) then he was unable to downshift. After tyring a few things he realized he was going too fast (this is a first - though Tom and I have told him just that over and over...) hit the brakes hard and began losing control (hmmm - wonder where I have heard THAT before! Oh yes! That again would be me and Tom telling him how fast that can happen!!) and he admits to panicing (understandable!) and shortly thereafter (very shortly!) his front right tire clipped the sidewalk veering him up onto (or into) the embankment!! It seems his little car (his little pride and joy - emphasize the pride!) is totalled. He couldn't bring his sweet self to call pregnant me (he said he knew I would JUMP up, grab Tom, throw him in the car and race to the place - about 30 minutes away. He is completely right!!) so he called my brother - owner of the Auto Shop where Ollie works fulltime. THEN he called me - when he "had the ball rolling". Of course, I stayed up till 2:00 when he finally rolled in (dropped off by said dear brother) where I palpated his abdomen and asked questions! (I'm not a Dr, but I was looking for signs of distress just like I knew what I was doing!!) The only injury sustained to his body is a banged up knee. That we can live with! He was in some shock, some depression, but we just prayed together in the hallway, thanking God for His protection - of Ollie AND other people! So many things could have been different; so many others hurt!!
So, how can I feel better? Precisely for THIS reason: that God has again reminded me of His ever-present faithfulness!! He took care of Ollie in this situation very kindly. He is also taking care of me and Ty! If this baby comes any way other than I had planned, so what! Father God is here. All is well! I don't know what that will look like exactly, but no matter what, all will be well!!
Meanwhile, Thanks to each of you who have encouraged me and who are praying for and thinking of me!! I value highly each word and pray blessings for you back!! :)
