My mood while writing this blog: Anxious |
So I went to my 36 week checkup today. She also did my last ultrasound. I was kind of disappointed with these pics because she couldn't really get a good view of him, so it's hard to tell what is going on in these pics. Oh well, pretty soon, I'll be seeing him in person! :)
So Jason came with me. Which was good. I'm glad he came. Maybe this means he will be involved. He didn't really have much to say, other than just simple chit chat. Which is just fine with me.
We did get some decent views of Aiden's face initially, but didn't capture them in the pics. Man, he has some fat cheeks. She said he even has a double chin now. LOL! He is already 6 lbs 9 oz.! I was like OMG! That is bigger than some full term babies are at birth. Just as I thought, he will be a big baby. She said my cervix is still closed, so no dialating yet. I go back every week now.
She also offered me the option to be induced at 39 weeks, instead of waiting. And I would get to pick the date. I am very VERY seriously considering that option. Jason and I both have family who live out of town. We could make sure they were there. I would get MY doctor. I wouldn't have to worry about getting whoever is on call. And I wouldn't have to worry about him getting quite so big. By 40 weeks (or more if I'm late, which I bet I would be), he may weigh 10 lbs or more. My mom said both of my older brothers and I were almost 10lbs. So having a 10 lbs baby isn't out of the question for me. I don't think I could handle all that! LOL! I have until next weeks visit to decide, but I think more than likely that is what I'll end up doing. She said as long as I am dialating there wouldn't be any issues with an induction. Which surely I would be by then.

Thursday, 20 Nov I was induced with my second baby. I was slightly pre-term, but I have no complaints of my induction. Probably primarily because I never had to have pitocin or anything like that, the cervidil itself is all I needed overnight to throw me into a regular labor pattern the next morning when it was taken out. Every person's body reacts and works differently in inductions, but not all of induction experiences are bad. I think we just hear of more of the horror stories (especially with the pitocin). I think as long as your body is ready (some dilation) then the risk of complications and c-section lowers of course. Good luck with your decision and with the following weeks! stacy313 -

Thursday, 20 Nov I'm going to do some research over the next few days and then make my decision. Hopefully, I'll find some non-biased stuff. So far all I can find is how horrible it is and why NOT to have one. You would think if it's really that horrible, doctors wouldn't offer it. I'll just keep looking I guess. CyndiG -
Thursday, 20 Nov I'm considering the same...I'm due Dec 24th and my doctor has already offered to induce me by the 17th just so that I'm home for the holidays and not in the hospital!
