05-10-2009 - First Trimester - 9 weeks now

My mood while writing this blog: Confused

Well this is my first pregnancy and all i can say is so far not so good. I caught e.coli early on leaving me with horrendous stomach cramps which i first put down to pregnancy and uterus expansion as my friends told me this is normal. A trip to the doctor after 10 days confirmed i had an infection and a week later i found out it was e.coli. Took another week to start recovering from the hideous pains but i am finally back at work. I have permanent nausea, but thankfully no vomitting. Nausea is worse at night and i now have to sleep elevated and sleeping on my front is becoming tough, despite being only 9 weeks. I have gained about 2kg, and none of my clothes fit as i seem to have an enormous belly. I have really bad gas and bloating which is also unfortunate and painful. All in all i cant say i am enjoying this and all the pain and discomfort has left me in a state of confusion as i have not yet formed any emotional bond with this baby, despite 3 ultrasound scans and loats of pictures. Not sure if this is normal, and i am pleased to be back at work and distracted from the fact that i am turning into a whale. At the moment i can say i am genuinely not happy.
