| 17-8-2009 - Today\'s doctor\'s visit | My mood while writing this blog:feeling pretty big about now |
I had a doctor's appointment today. I must say that I was anxious to see what he had to say. It was kind of a rough night for me last night, because I was having some contractions and didn't get much sleep. So, I am feeling a little sleepy today. The hubby and I both threw our packed bags in our cars just in case my doctor's appointment revealed any progress.
So, the doctor said, the baby is still head down. His head has dropped down into my pelvis. I figured this happened since I have been breathing a little easier these days. Also because I have been having pain down low in my pubic and pelvis area. It hurts when I am rolling over in bed or shifting my hips. I know what an old person feels like getting out of bed now! There are cracks, pops and pain!
I did have some contractions last night. From about 1:30 am on and I had a contraction every hour. I had one on the way to work. Then NONE when I was at work. The doctor said it could have been Braxton Hicks or early labor. He said we will have to wait and see.
His check revealed that I am NOT dilated. Dilation is the amount the cervix has opened. I am 40 percent effaced. Effaced is when your cervix thins, softens and shortens. Yes... I had to look it up just to be sure what effaced meant.
My step B test turned up negative. My next doctor's appointment is next Monday. I am looking forward to my baby shower this weekend on Saturday. My husband started back at work today. He is a teacher and has a week of meeting and prep before actual school starts next week. The twins are with their mom this week but they also start school on the 24th. Until then, have a great week ladies. Keep me updated on any progress or appointments that you have. I must admit, that things are happening more now than ever. YEAH.........
