03-10-2008 - Appenndicitis

My mood while writing this blog: Worried

I've been getting this really bad pain in my side and belly and needing to go to the toilet every hour for a few weeks so i went to the doc today and he said its either a urinary tract infection or appendicitis. So i did a wee test and there was no protein which usually indicates UTI but it had a little bit of something else... i cant remember what it was. He gave me a script to get some penicillin to try and kill off the nasties while we wait for my wee to come back from the lab. But he said hes got a feeling its my appendix. He said if it gets any worse over the weekend to go straight to emergency at the hospital coz its could be my appendix about to pop. Eww. If i dont end up in hospital then I have to call the doctors office on monday to get the results of the lab test and then we'll have a better idea of whats going on. I really hope it is just a UTI coz if its my appendix it will have to be removed which means an operation which means risk to my baby. I did ask if it was risky and he said its very low risk and very rare that it can put the pregnancy in jeopardy. He said it would be more dangerous to leave it in. i guess we'll see over the weekend.

Oh and i bought a doppler but i cant find babys heartbeat. hes kicking me so i know he's fine but i want to hear it. does anyone know any tricks to make it easier to find?

UPDATE

So i dont think it is my appendix. the pills i have been taking seem to be helping. Phew! And i called the Dr on Monday for the lab results and my wee is clear. Phew again! What a relief :)
