My mood while writing this blog: sleepy |
Yeah, so I have been so exhausted the last week or so since my last baby doc appt that I haven't done the glucose test. I literally fall asleep when I get home and then drag my butt outta bed 30 minutes prior to the work day starting. My eyes barely open.
I went to my last monthly appt today and got the lecture, so I went to the lab right after and did the deed. The drinkipoo wasn't so bad - she only had one other gal who ever sat there and said, not bad gotta another? I told the nurse I loved sugar and so this was quite tasty just a bit watery-freezer burn tasting when she suggested it was a melted orangecicle.
The way I love sugar I probably have gestational diabetes. Look at me -- I'm sitting here at 9:30 pm and swigging root beer from a 2 litre bottle. Anyway I'll find out tomorrow whether I failed.
UPDATE: Yep. Failed. Took the 3 hr. today. Will know tomorrow (hopefully) what the results are. The baby was fine during the test, mostly sleepy due to the leg cramp from hell the night before. So getting pricked before drinking the super sugary stuff, then 1 at an hour (was okay), 2nd at the 2 hr (really tired and dragging) and one last time at the 3rd hour. (feeling normal again) was not fun. I had been drinking water continually during the fast but even then, we couldn't draw in 2 places (my left arm is a giver :) but got too many clots in the one area, but the right is like no veins no blood zip, so into the hand the last one went. Ouch even though she's a good phleb. During my first prenatal I had high sugar in my urine and had a blood test which turned out normal. I'd had froot loops 2 hrs prior to the appointment and my body just moves things through quickly. That's what I assume happened this time too, something I ate just was still swirling around.
Baby has been keeping it sleepy today not that I blame him/her! Movement is good and strong; more like stretching and rolling over in his/her sleep type of movements. Now that I've eaten a couple of good meals and done normal stuff (including a short nap) baby is puttering around like normal "before mommy goes to bed" movements.
When I think about it I hope I'm not diabetic for the last couple of months, but if I am it would probably just restrict my sugar intake so no soda, no sweets, and careful intake of fruits and carbs. I know fruits do, but do veggies have sugar? Guess I could find out but I'm not going to stress on this as it will resolve itself regardless.
RE: the ligament pain - I could literally break my arm to distract my leg pain (hospital scale 7.5) so I have tylenol with codeine which I take very sparingly. My OB ok'd it's use IF the regualr tylenol isn't cutting it, but she said to treat it just like I would the dosage. Since it's at the lowest possible while still being affective, the baby doesn't react much to it but it's more like a buzz. Yes, I've got the heating pads, the hot bathtub, and a bally ball to help stretch out. Earlier I had to restrict a lot of my activity and walking because it started the BH's wihtin a few minutes. Now the BH's are not as frequent (or due to the lessened activity, aren't happening as much) so now I've included stair walking to stretch out the leg and the usual leg stretchs including stretching like sitting indian style. I do mostly in the hot bath and continue when out so that it helps me sleep due to hte inactivity in the leg makes cramping easier. Sleepy writing is not good so I'll end this in the next couple of sentences! I'm doing more leg exercises and walking while at work and I told my boss to either deal with it or do the work himself because I had other things going on. (My husband overheard me say something sharp to my boss in correcting his assumption on something and so it gets him all hot and bothered. Sad, my husband doesn't do the whips and chain thing. haha.)
