Ok, really hard to see, but in the pic on the right - in the middle of Sebastian's heart, there is a white line - that was the echogenic focus. It's more visible on the original of course! My son had exactly that at his 18 week u/s. and by 27 weeks it was almost gone. I was told it was a possible marker for genetic problems, but based on the rest of the anatomy scan, he was showing to be perfectly normal. I had some problems with the pregnancy, but Sebastian was born perfectly healthy and the calcium deposit was completely gone before he was born. I would not worry about it at all :)

9/21/09 Update- We had our U/S today and the echogenic focus is still there- they are still wanting to keep an eye on things so I am having another more indepth u/s at when Im 34 weeks. Keep baby girl in your prayers- Im sooo worried!!!!
9/ 15 Update: I have an U/S on 9/22 (30+ wks) to check on an issue they found back at my anatomy scan when I was 18 wks. She has a bright spot showing up in her heart that they are calling an "echogenic focus" they say it could be a calcium deposit. They really dont know b/c it is an isolated issue and she has no birth defects that they can find. Please pray for our little peanut that this "abnormality" wont cause any problems. If any has/is experiencing this or knows about it- please let me know- I need some encouragement. Thanks!!!
