07-10-2008 - 1st Hospital Visit

My mood while writing this blog:
Ok

Well I went to the Dr. today for my Glucose test and got to talk to her about all of my concerns. Oh by the way...I failed my Glucose test horribly apparently. The look on her face said it all so I go Friday for the 3 hour test. But they ran a few other tests along with the Glucose and I failed those too so they sent me straight to the hospital for evaulation and more tests. My hemoglobin was too low it only registered an 8...now when I was 7 weeks along and they did that test I was a 13 so I thought I wouldn't have problems with that. She said that could explain alot of things. They did the test again at the hospital and it came back an 11.2 I believe. So I'm on bed rest for today and tomorrow...she wanted it to be all week but she is letting me go back to work Thursday just to be off again on Friday to go have more tests. I have a sit down job so it's not like what I do is strenous. I have had Braxton Hix contractions alot today. Bad enough today to radiate around to my lower back but not bad enough to concern myself with. The baby was fine by the way, they had me hooked up to the monitor for over 3 hours and he kept moving away from it so I'd have to reposition it to keep hearing his heartbeat and he was either getting mad at it putting pressure on him or he was having fun using it as a punching bag with his feet. Wayne still didn't get to feel him move but he saw him kick me. For those that posted on my can't breath blog you were both right I guess...my sugar was way off and so was my iron. She told me to eat more red meat and stay away from the carbs, LOL. I didn't have any of these problems with my oldest son...well I did have Gestational Diabetes but a mild case (Diet Controlled sordof, LOL). But I didn't have any of these other problems. I am 8 years older this time though I'm sure that has a little bit to do with it.

GLAD TO HEAR IT WAS THE SUGAR, NOT THAT ITS A GREAT OUTCOME BUT ITS MANAGEABLE. JUST GOES TO SHOW YOU EVERYONE'S BODY IS DIFFERENT. SINCE I AM ON BEDREST AND MY HUSBAND IS WORKING ALL THE TIME, MY SISTER TURNED ME ON TO THE SOUTHBEACH PIZZAS. THEY ARE BETWEEN 300-400 CALORIES AND THEY HAVE OVER 30 GRAMS OF PROTEIN WHICH IS GREAT FOR PREGNANCY, AND THEY ARE LOW CARB...ASK YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU CAN EAT SOME OF THOSE THINGS, ALSO FOR CONVENIENCE I'VE INTRODUCTED BALANCE BARS (ALMOND BROWNIE AND COOKIE DOUGH ARE MY FAVOIRES) THEY ARE AROUND 200 CALORIES AND ARE VERY BALANCED WITH CARBS AND PROTEINS, QUICK SNAK THAT IS EASY TO GET TO. ITS HARD TO FIND HIGH PROTEIN THINGS TO EAT THAT ARE EASY AND AVOID ALL THE BAD CARBS...NUTRIGRAIN BLUEBERRY WAFFLES ARE ALSO A GOOD ONE, WITH A LITTLE LITE SYRUP....CURBS THE SUGAR CRAVING BUT A MUCH HEALTHIER ALTERNATIVE. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU ARE HAVING THE BRAXTON HICKS CONTRACTIONS NOW, I DON'T THINK I'VE HAD THEM IS THAT NORMAL AT 24 WEEKS, NOTHING IS NORMAL FOR ME WITH THE LOW FLUID, THIS WEEK THE SAID THE BABY MEASURED 3 WEEKS BEHIND INSTEAD OF 2 SO I WAS A LITTLE UPSET, BUT SHE GAINED WEIGHT SO THAT IS GOOD...SHE'S MOVING A LOT THE LAST FEW DAYS HOPEFULLY SHE IS GROWING BUT NOW I FEAR THE MORE SHE MOVES SHE IS PUSHING WHAT LITTLE FLUID IS THERE OUT!!! HANG IN THERE, KRISTEN.

Well...while it sucks having gestational diabetes at least it keeps you from eating all the junk food! lol! That's my biggest downfall!!!
