| 12-12-2008 - Forgiving my OB for quitting and New Dr Update | My mood while writing this blog:okay |
I found out today why my Dr had to quit on me and I guess I'll have to forgive her. She had to have an emergency hysterectomy due to cancer they found in her body. So she will be off work for the next 3 months. Her surgery went well. Anyway so today I met the new Dr they set me up with. It's a man and that I wasn't very happy about. He was very nice and very thurough and took time to make sure I had asked any/all questions I had. My other Dr had been in such a hurry this entire time I was kinda frustrated with her but not enough to change Drs. So it was a nice change to have someone that took time to make sure they catered to all of my needs. He's probably in his 40's and pretty cute to me which makes me more uncomfortable. Thank Goodness he didn't have to go there today to check anything...I'm not sure when he will do that but I'm not ready for that. I still have this thing about only wanting my man there. I guess with a woman Dr I just don't think about it that way...she is there doing her job and I am there doing mine as a patient. I have a hard time thinking about a male Dr the same way for that area of the body. LOL. I also found out the reason most of the Drs don't like to deliver at the hospital I want to deliver at is because it's a 20 minute drive for them to make it across town to that hospital from their office. They said when they are laboring a woman at the hospital that far away it makes them a little nervous that they may not make it there on time but if I was at the hospital accross the street from there office it isn't something that they or I would have to worry about. But he said there is a High Risk Dr next to my hospital that says if it ever came down to it and he needed to be there for the laboring woman he would be there in a heartbeat rather you are his patient or not. So my new Dr said that is the only reason they will even attempt to deliver at that hospital because they have a back up plan in place. I don't see him again until Dec 29th so I atleast have that much longer to mentally prepare for the idea that he will have to go there at some point to check on things. LOL It's nice to actually get to miss a few appointments...I've been going twice a week for a couple of weeks and for the next 2 1/2 weeks I only have to go once a week to see the High Risk Dr. But next week my new Dr will be out of town and the week after that is Christmas so the office will be closed. He wasn't going to see me until January 2nd but I would like to be off by the end of the year so he will see me on the 29th to see if there is any reason for me to be off by the 31st. If not I guess I will just have to work on into January and they will take all of next years vacation away from me. If I'm off by the end of December they can't take away what I don't have at the time so when I do get the vacation time January 1st they still can't take it away because it was accrued after my time off began. But if I'm still working they take it all first before FMLA kicks in. But FMLA wont pay me to be off early unless I have a medical reason to be off and pregnant isn't a good enough reason.
