My mood while writing this blog: Ok |
I haven't been feeling well for the past few days. I've been nauseated, tired, and have had a lot of Braxton HIcks. I can't sleep well and am having an achy pelvis. Well, tonight when I talked to my GD nurse about some of my symptoms, she told me to call Labor and Delivery right away. I was surprised by that, thought I was ok, and I decided to go out with my friends for dinner any way. 3 of my dinner friend have recently had babies and with their urging, I ended up calling Labor and Delivery on my way home. I was surprised when they told me to come in right away so a doctor could check me out! As soon as I got home, I re-checked my hospital bag and started washing Rose's bassinet linens just in case. Russell arrived a few minutes later and we sped off to the hospital. They were wonderful in Labor and Delivery. A doctor gave me a pelvic right away (uncomfortable) and told me that the baby's head is really low (at Station -2), but my cervix is completely closed and only 25% effaced. I shouldn't be having the baby any time soon, but this certainly explains some of the discomfort I've been having. I was able to ask lots of questions and found out that I am in fact doing an excellent job on this GD diet. The doctor and nurse were great and I'm feeling more informed and calmer about everything!
By the way, Dani, you were so right to tell me to get that bag packed!

Friday, 25 Jul WOW! That is pretty scary. I am surprised you were sooo cool because after the first time being told to go to L&D right away, I would have spazzed out. The only time I was told to go to L&D was if the pains I was feeling didn't go away... Thankfully they did. I do have the pelvic discomfort, but I check my tummy everyday and see the baby hasn't dropped, so I know it is my pelvis joints just loosening more. Hopefully all the times I called my DH a 'big head' will not take into play when the baby comes... you know what they say... :)
