CHIP N GRANOLA COOKIE BARS

1/3 c. shortening
1/3 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar (packed)
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. Maple syrup

1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 pkg. (6 oz.) chocolate chips
1 c. granola (any flavour)

Heat oven to 375 degrees. Grease baking pan (13 x 9 inches). Mix shortening, butter and sugar, eggs, vanilla, and maple syrup thoroughly. Stir in remaining ingredients. Spread into pan. Bake until light brown 20 to 25 minutes. Cut into 3 x 1 1/2 inch bars. Makes 2 dozen.
