My mood while writing this blog: Exhausted |
Starting on Thursday night I was unable to keep any food down. The next day the same thing...couldn't keep anything down not even water, in addition to diarreah, a monsterous cough in my lungs that I felt in my back, and a massive headache. I call my ob/gyn and they wanted me to go to the ER in case I needed an IV. I signed in the ER at 6 on the dot. I sat there for 3 hours before they called me back to be seen. When I got back there the Dr. looked at me and said you have the flu. He asked me to hold out my tongue to check to see if I was dehydrated. That was it. No blood tests, didn't check the baby, nothing! He said he was going to give me a prescription for the nausea and to drink vitamin water. I was so upset! I asked the nurse when he came in to discharge me, another hour later, if that was proper procedure. He said to check for flu they swab the nostrils and if it turns purple then it's the flu. I complained that he didn't do that. The nurse asked me if I wanted the Dr. to come back in, and I said no I will be here till the morning waiting on you guys. I was so dissapointed at the hospital for not doing what I think was proper! I called my ob/gyn and she said that he probably had 30 cases of the flu come in and that is why he didn't go any further, but I felt like I should have been handled a little more important since I am pregant. Am I crazy for that?

Sunday, 20 Sep You are definitely not crazy! He should have been more attentive. Obviously having the flu is dangerous for your baby. And did he even check for swine flu? What if it's more serious. He's a jerk. I hope you're feeling better soon sweetie!
