So here's the thing... I have been at my job for 8 years, I run a retail store. Open to close everyday but Sunday. 55hrs a week. When I told the owner I was pregnant he didn't have much to say. When I told the owner that I would not be coming back after the baby, he said "Okay". That's it that's all. My last day is October 3, only because he has made absolutely no provisions for me at all. I work alone for 10+ hours a day. No lunch break. He doesn't see the need to hire someone until next week. And by that I mean we haven't even put up the hiring sign or run an add. On Friday the power went out at 2:30pm. We are open until 6:00pm. He demanded that I stay until 6:00 in the dark, in the heat, with no power. (Just as a footnote the power did not come back on until 3am. He owns two stores and there are two girls at the other store about 5 miles away. One of those girls is going on vacation on Sept. 27th. She told me yesterday that he said he was going to ask me to stay another two weeks after my official last day. And oh yeah...two girls at the other store with less business...one at mine. He will not send one of them over to work with me.
So my question is: I can work, no problems related with that, I just really don't want to anymore. If he is so unwilling to do anything for me, why should I even be considering staying for another two weeks??? Other than the money of course which would buy the glider I want after one week. I just don't want to be a pushover anymore.
