My mood while writing this blog: confused |
One of my customers at work is having a shower for me next week. She is an older woman, who is very involved in the local "society" so to speak. She has invited all of her friends, some of whom I know and some I do not. These are all older women (50 and up). I have invited a few of my more "socially acceptable" friends. The problem seems to be this:
I registered at Target and Babies R Us. I have been keeping an eye on my registry and only one item has been bought. While cute little outfits are nice, I don't want to be over run with clothes and not have a car seat. Granted I intend to buy the things I need once I know if I need to buy them or not. I just think that all these old ladies are not going to take the time to buy things on the registry and just buy what ever tickles their fancy.
Further proof of my theory, one of my customers (72yrs old) who is coming to the shower asked me the other day what she should get. She says everyone needs diapers and bottles. I said of course but we are going to do cloth diapers and I am breastfeeding... She responds, "Oh, honey that's silly. Use disposable diapers they are all natural." HUH??
I know I should just be grateful for anything at all. But jeez. I do actually need things since this is my first baby!!
Update:
Well the shower was last nite and as I suspected I received alot of really nice clothing from Dillards and only two items off the registry. Five of the women went in together and got me a swing but not the one I wanted. I did go ahead and return that this morning and also returned the maternity outfit that I bought to wear to the shower that I did not wear and had enough to get the right one. So we made a little bit off progress but not as much as I had hoped we would. I did get one gift card and with gift card my dad sent we should be able to get the travel system. Maybe after that stuff I will just wait until my family comes down in December and let them buy up whatever we still need. (Wishful thinking) It's worth a shot, right?
