11-6-2009 - I don't like the midwife. OkMy mood while writing this blog:
Ok

My Ob/gyn has 5 doctors, one midwife, and one nurse practionier on staff. I love my doctor that delivered my first baby. I have an absolutely beautiful c-section scar, even she said so. I however despise the midwife and for some reason they keep trying to make me see her instead. This womans bedside manner is horrendous. I was forced to see her on my last visit because my doc was in delivery. I asked her about my wisdom tooth and if I would be able to get anything done about it. I don't talk alot, I type alot, but I do not talk alot. So, I explain to her that last pregnancy my tooth was bothering me and I didn't do anything about it and ask ever so sweetly if I am able to get a wisdom tooth extracted while pregnant or not. She sits and stares at me the entire time, she does not speak, she hands me a form letter to give to the dentist, she still does not speak. Then she says, sounding rather exasperated, "Is there anything else?". I said no and left. I had my daughter with me and we had to wait for almost two hours to even get to go back, so needless to say I was a little irritated but I was still friendly to everyone at the office. When I got home I realized I did not get a prescription for my prenatals, no proof of pregnancy for Medicaid, I had other general questions that I was not about to ask the midwife with the shitty attitude, and they had scheduled my next appt with her. I immediately called back the doctors office and spoke to my doctors nurse and asked for all the things I needed and begged her to reschedule my appt with my doctor instead of the midwife. She took care of it all for me because she is awesome. I guess my point is I don't understand why if you hate your profession so much why would you continue to do it. Or maybe she just doesn't like me... I don't know it just bothers me. I feel like I should say something to my doctor but I have this feeling that they are friends outside of the office and then my doctor would not be as friendly to me.

I would say something to the dr. Either the midwife was having a bad day (we all have them) and was taking it out on you, but if she's always a bitch, they DEFINATELY need to know about it!!!
I would kind of say jokingly the next time you're in... jeez, the last time I was here the midwife was really having a bad day...she was almost rude...

That sucks--how rude! I would make sure you don't see her again. And don't feel bad about saying something! Who cares if you dr is friends with her out of work...who cares? She has an ethical obligation to you to not speak about it outside of work anyway! I hate people like that...i agree, quit!
