14-3-2009 - Worried sick about my son

My mood while writing this blog: scared

Well, my son Zachary is now 91/2 months old. He will be 10 months on the 26th of this month. He had his 9 month checkup yesterday and we got some potentially bad news. The doc is really concerned about his weight. He hasn't gained a pound or grown an inch in 3 whole months. She says shes concerned he may have thyroid problems, and I looked it up and I believe it is called hypothyroidism. She said if thats the case he will have to be on meds for the rest of his life. Another thing she said it could be is that something may be wrong in his g.i. tract and that would require a diet change. I'm just so worried that it is going to be something serious and that something bad is going to happen. He really needs to grow! I tend to not be very optimistic because every time I get my hopes up and think on the bright side...all that gets crushed. I love my little boy so much and I don't know what I would do if something was to happen to him. It hurts me that he isn't thriving. Also, when I was reading about the hypothyroidism, it said it could possibly cause mental retardation. That's a scary thought. I just want him to be happy and healthy...Ladies, keep him in your prayers...thanks
