My mood while writing this blog: slightly annoyed |
well ladies i did some research for a new ob/gyn and i found one that was recommended to me by a friend. this ob also has really good reviews from former and current patients. i am going to see her on Tuesday july 7th. hopefully she will be much better! wish me luck and i will let you ladies know how it goes… also, her office is much closer to my house and so is the hospital she delivers. even the hospital had great reviews. if i don’t like how things go with this new doctor, i also looked into a birthing center in a nearby city. the offer a really nice facility with midwives. a totally different environment but we will see.
this last appointment i just had with my current doctor was kind of the last straw. first of all, he hurt me with the stupid u/s machine and he didn’t even have the courtesy to take the last patients name off the u/s picture. so he gave me this really blurry, crappy picture of my son and it has his other patient’s name on it! ugh, not cool… also, my next appointment i’m supposed to do the glucose test, he mentioned nothing about it and i’m supposed to fast for that test. also, even after i asked he didn’t tell me how much the baby weighed or measure my uterus. isn’t that supposed to be standard? ugh… maybe i’m expecting to much? what do you ladies think?

Friday, 3 Jul Your needs as a patient do not sound to be of concern to this doctor. Good for you for switching and not going through labor with that guy! morgn -

Thursday, 2 Jul I say go you! You have every right to expect to be thoroughly examined. This is why I'm changing my OB as well. He spends like 4-6 minutes with me each time and it's terrible. I can't wait to meet my new OB. I'm so happy you stuck up for yourself and your baby! allynne7 -
Thursday, 2 Jul Your supposed to fast for the glucose test? My doc never said anything about that...He gave me the drink to take home and said to have the blood test done anywhere from mid to late july. I just drink it then go have my blood taken an hour later. Now im worried. I should call and ask him. Boy am I glad you wrote this blog!
As for OB's I don't see mine until the last month...my doc does it up till then. And since I moved to a new (small) town I don't know any of the OB's so he's refering me to one (of the 4!! Yep, really small town...they don't even do epidurals unless it's necessary). Hope everything works out with your new OB!!! Say-Baby -
Thursday, 2 Jul I left my family doctor too.. he has nothing to do with my pregnancy anymore.. I am with a midwife, and I love it!!! They are so helpful.. and tell you everything you need to know, when you need to know it. They also suggest things that they think may be good for you... although some of them have there strong beliefs.. but obviously it's up to you what you want.
And as for you ob. I would have flipped! That's uncalled for... I wouldn't stand for it a bit, I think you did the right thing by looking for someone different! Good luck with this one, hope he/she works out for you. Also I don't actually think that it's standard that they have to tell you the weight, and all that fun stuff. At least not here in Canada... because they've never told me... and as far as I knew they don't.. unless somethings not right, so maybe it's a good thing that they haven't? Unless in the U.S.A it's completely different, which is possible!
Well good luck, and hope all is well! excitedmisty -

Thursday, 2 Jul Good for you for switching if you were uncomfortable. I can't believe they left the name on your picture!!!!! Although.. isn't it the us tech that takes the pics? It is at my place. tanya23 -
