18-8-2009 - a scare!!!

My mood while writing this blog:
feeling much better

hi ladies! well, i had a scare yesterday...
sunday night, my hubby and i had sex and afterwards, i felt a bit crampy. i get regular braxton hicks contractions where my uterus gets really hard but nothing painful. well, sunday night it was different. it felt like menstrual cramps. i thought nothing of it and went to sleep. in the middle of the night, i was woken up by really bad cramps again but went back to sleep. later, it woke me up again. i got ready for work and had another cramp or two but i still went to work. once i got there i had a little more cramping and i decided to ask my mom bout it. she said to call my doctor and see what he says. so i call my doctor and they told me i needed to go to labor and delivery because i was describing contractions! i was so paranoid. i went by myself and tried to stay as calm as possible. they hooked me up to the monitoring machine and sure enough, i was having contractions. i had 7 in an hour and the nurse said i need a shot to stop my contractions. well, this shot makes you super jittery and shaky. yuck, made me feel bleh but it stopped my contractions! they gave me a pill of the same medication to make sure the contractions didn't come back. i was there for over 7 hours! then, they wanted to do a FFN test. that's where they do a swab behind your cervix to test for an enzyme that's present when your body is preparing for labor. but, since my husband and i had intercourse in the last 24 hours i had to wait to fo the test. so, i went in troday and was monitored again, no contrations! yay! and my test results came back negative. so no baby Steven in the next 2 weeks!! wheew... thank goodness! so, he's in there cooking still!!! =] now, i have to make sure i'm drinking lots of fluids to stay hydrated, elevate my feet every 4 hours and no sexual intercourse!!! ah! my hubby and i are gonna go crazy haha

on another note, my hubby painted the nursery sunday and ripped up the carpet in there! i'm so excited to see Steven's room coming together. yay! well, sorry such a long update. i miss you ladies and i will try to post pics asap!

I'm sorry you had to go through this, but I'm so glad everything turned out okay for you and that the fetal fibronactin test came back negative, so little Steven will stay inside where he is the safest right now!! Just make sure you listen to everything the Doctor says and take it as easy as you can:) Take care!!!
