My mood while writing this blog: Wondering |
Mason is 19 weeks old today and he still isn't rolling over. He really doesn't show any interst in it either! He was born 13 days early, do you think that 'might' have something to do with it? At his 4 month check-up I asked what his APGAR scores were and the nurse told me they were 8 (1 min after birth) and 10 (5 minutes after birth). I KNOW this HAS to be wrong considering he wasn't breathing when he came out, he wasn't crying or moving as 'vigourously' as they said he should be so they rushed him in for x-rays and blood work (which everything looked good). I never even got to hold him the first 30 minutes of life! I looked back in my daughter's baby book and she rolled over the day before she turned 4 months old. I know that babies are all different, but it just seems like he should be rolling over by now. He tries to throw himself into a sitting position and gets literally pissed that he can't do it (I have it on camera...lol), but why isn't he rolling over yet?? He hates his tummy time...absolutely screams everytime we do it while his face is buried face down on the blanket! He holds his head up just fine with no wobbly motions, so it's not like he can't hold it up off of the blanket. When we have him on his back, he just stares at the toys above him or the ceiling. Have any of you or your friends had babies that seemed a little slower like this? Any advice or input would be greatly appreciated!

Friday, 10 Jul I would just give him more time concidering that he was born 13 weeks early what is that apgar scores? does every baby get them when they are born?....what does APGAR mean?.....my other son was born at 35 weeks gestational age and he was very far behind on a lot of things he hated tummy to death he never did it for us either and has far as your baby holding it's head up while on his tummy that might be because when they are on their tummies they have to use their muscles in their backs and if he doesnt do tummy time at all then he is not really using the muscles that are needed for him to be able to hold his head up while on the floor on his tummy, but as I was saying though my son was 35 weeks ges. when he was born and he was behind on everything and he was fine he was just like a full term baby when he came out.....but he didnt crawl until he was 11 months old and it wasnt with his hands and kness he scooted across the floor. then he never walked either until he was 14 months old......and he is now 18 months old and he doesnt even talk at all yet.....some babies learn faster than others.....doesnt mean that there is something wrong just means that he needs a little help with learning and a little bit of time.....trust me he seems fine by what you are saying to me here, it's just time that he needs, and push that tummy time get him to work those muscles in his back that are needed for him to hold his head up....take a plastic zip lock bag and place some thin toys or small toys and some confetti peices and fill half way with water and place it on the floor in front him for something that he is going to want to see and smack and that will help him to want to do it.....my sons early intervention teacher did this to help my son want to do tummy time and to help him to start lifting his head up while on his belly......good luck any questions feel free to ask Miracle 3 -

Thursday, 9 Jul my was 6wks early and finally rolled over just before he turned 5 months. never cared to be on his tummy, he would scream until we picked him up. every baby is different. some babies can sit up and do things like that by 5 months, while others don't do it until 9 months.
do you have a tummy time mat? we didn't use a mat until he was 4.5months then he started showing interest in rolling over. all you need it a towel/blanket and roll it up and place him on top of it just under his armpits. jacobb-n-jordans-mommy -
