My mood while writing this blog: excited! |
On Thursday morning, probably around 6am, my hubby, baby and I are moving back home to Illinois!! I can't even explain how excited I am about this. We moved down here to Florida a year ago with big dreams and lots of promises from my in-laws. There is a previous blog on my page somewhere about moving to Florida if you want to go back and read about it. But long story short, we sold our house and I LOOOVED in Illinois to move to Florida. My husband's parents made us grand promises about how our lives would be once we got here... Brandon now works for his dad's plastic fabrication company. His father is almost 70 and wanted Brandon to move down here and learn the business so he can retire. Brandon has been amazing at this job and I can't believe how much he has done with it and how much he has learned. However, living in Florida has been miserable. We have really struggled with it. It has been a year and we put in a very honest effort. We just want to be back home near friends and family. I have a nephew and 2 nieces who Anna ADORES and misses greatly. My mother has cervical cancer and every time she goes to the doctor, I'm worried. And I wish I could be there for her. I have 2 sisters who are, next to Brandon, my best friends. We tired, we tried, we tried... we really tried to make this work. But Brandon's parents backed out on a lot of promises and we have struggled fitting in down here. So moving back up to the Chicagoland area is beyond what I could have ever asked for.
Last time we were up vising, we found a house to rent. Last week, we got a call from the landlord saying that she suddenly wanted $5,000 up front. Um... we don't have 5K to pull out of a savings account and give her. And even if we take out loans... we only had a week to come up with this money. So after a long talk with Brandon, we decided that the situation was too "fishy" about wanting 5K and NOT letting us sign a 12 month lease... she would only let us do a 6 month lease. Personally, we think the house is in foreclosure and she needs to money to get up to current and she only wanted to do a 6 month lease in case the house IS foreclosed on in the time we are living there. So.... with only a week left until we have to be out of our place now.... we took our last option: Living with my mother.
I'm happy, but totally stressed about living with my mom. Also in the house is my step-dad, my youngest sister who is 20 and in school full time and lives at home, and my 2 step-sisters live there part time. Sooo.... it is going to be a packed house. Luckily, its a big house. Everyone there is being SO wonderful about letting us set up. Brandon and I get our own room, and Anna even gets her own room across the hall. They are fixing up the ENTIRE basement into a playroom for Anna so we can bring all her toys. We are actually probably going to stay there until the 1st of the year... everyone there wants us to stay longer!! But I think by the first of the year we can save up enough for a down payment to buy a house instead of dealing with renting anymore.
I haven't lived at home since I was 18. I am now 26 and don't know how I am going to adjust with living at home again. My mom and step-dad both work full time, so it is going to be me and Anna during the day most of the time. I am just a ball of nerves..... does anyone else on here live at home with their child and it is fine?? Some encouraging words would be awesome... and much needed.

Tuesday, 29 Sep You gave it an honest effort! I remember being one of those people who told you to "go for it...give it a try" with the move...you did it and it didn't work out. Live and learn...you are going back to a place where you will be happy, which is what it's all about!! :) Good luck with the move!! cait -
Monday, 28 Sep Nita I have actually never lived away from my mom it is bittersweet. When I was in college she got sick and needed someone around and now I am scared to leave, what if something happened. Sure it is annoying at times. But she knows I am Liliana and Jason's mother and what I say is how it goes when it comes to them. Best part of living with her. Damian and I can go out to a movie or late dinner and she is there. We will put the kids to bed and go and leave her with the monitor which is good my kids don't walk up often and I am always a 5-15min drive away. It will be great don't worry, YAY FOR GETTING TO GO HOME!!! cassandrans -
Monday, 28 Sep My parents always said love grows the best in little spaces. So while it can be stressful, know that Anna will probably LOVE being around her grandparents all the time. I have no doubt that she will be very happy. I hope it's not too stressful for you and that you get use to the change quickly. Good luck! mollyp2121 -
Monday, 28 Sep Good luck I have a brother, niece, and sister that live in Illinois Rockford and Carbendale (spelling might be off) Sounds so neat that your family is willing to help you and your little family out. I think its great when family helps family. Anna having a basement play room AND her own room is AWESOME something that she's used to having so it will make things eassier on her :) GOOD LUCK!!!
