| 12-8-2009 - OB Appointment & General Advice | My mood while writing this blog:Relieved |
So I got myself all upset last Friday because I got home to message on my answering machine saying that I had missed my OB Appointment at the Hospital. They were supposed to send me a letter advising of the date and time but hadn’t so I didn’t even know that I had an appointment. And, I had rung the antenatal clinic the week before to let them know that I am going interstate for a few days at the end of August and to make sure that an appointment hadn’t been made for those dates and they said that no appointment had been made yet. It’s a LONG waiting list for public patients so I was really pissed off and a bit concerned that time is pushing along too fast.
I phoned them on Monday to reschedule an appointment and they said that they couldn’t get me in again until the 9th September which would make me almost 33 weeks. But yesterday I received a letter saying that they have moved my appointment to 19th August, which is next week. I am so relieved that it has been brought forward!
I also booked my 3D/4D ultrasound for 29th August and I can’t wait to see what my little boy really looks like!
I’ve got all of the big ticket baby stuff now so I’ve begun to look at and stock up on the everyday stuff like creams, powders, oils, baby bath, clothes and nappies. A lady I know from my childhood days dancing (she was a ballet mum) has designed cloth nappies that are shaped like disposables – she’s called them Bush Pig nappies and has a store on eBay. All of her daughters have used them for their kids and say that they are fantastic, only complaint is that they take a while to dry after washing them but with our humid Qld weather I don’t think that will be as much of a problem. My work colleague has bought me a whole heap cause I think that they will be perfect for summer here – nappies and singlet weather. They come in all different prints and are really cute. This is the link to the store: http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/Bush-Pig-Clothing-and-Scrapbooking__W0QQ_armrsZ1
I’ve also been getting heaps of advice lately – like making sure to do your pelvic floor exercises and using sweet almond oil to do prenatal perineal massage (you can google how to do this). Also, supposedly after delivery frozen condoms are a must to help reduce swelling and uncomfortableness down there. You fill the condom with a bit of water and freeze them flat like a pancake. They’re also supposed to be good for burning sore nipples!
Anyway, I think that I’ve wasted enough time at work now so I better go.
Hope everyone is well!
