| 27-9-2009 - Finally finished work! |
My mood while writing this blog: Woohoo |
So today is my first day of not having to go to work and it's only really just hit me that that's it and I don't have to get up every morning and into "corporate" mode. This is the first time I haven't worked since I left school! As much as I was SO excited to be finishing, I felt strangely emotional on Friday night and had a bit of a cry. Weird! I guess it's the end of an era?
To be honest I feel a little bit put out... Like I don't know what to do with myself. But I'm going to start cleaning, one room at a time, starting with my bedroom. I'm doing it that way so I don't get overwhelmed... We really haven't done a full spring clean on the house since we moved in over three years ago so there's quite a bit of crap that I've forgotten about and can be thrown out now.
I'm also starting to think about stuff for the hospital now and just bought a few bits and pieces to wear while I'm in there. I didn't do the labour classes, they were on over the last two weeks but I only got the letter the day before they started and I was too exhausted to go straight from work to the classes for two hours each night. If they had been on this week I would have gone for sure so I was thinking I might google some information so I feel a little more informed. I watched my mum give birth to my little sister when I was 15 so I think I know what I'm in for and what to expect... If anyone could offer any advice/tips it would be much appreciated!
OK. Off to clean now ;-)

Monday, 28 Sep Also, here's a very good book to read. the small one will tell you how to cope with a fussy baby (colic), the big one is on how to establish good sleeping habits, something i think affects everything in baby's life: "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child / Your Fussy Baby" http://www.amazon.com/Healthy-Sleep-Habits-Happy-Child/dp/0345473027/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1254169454&sr=8-2-catcorr absoluties -
Monday, 28 Sep I got this DVD instead of going to the classes:"Laugh and Learn About Childbirth"http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000PLXFSS/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_1?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B0000DK2ZW&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=0GAK096CKZ18VYATBVHJIt was soooo much better than going to the endless classes, believe me!I went through the same anxieties when I stopped working with my first, after about 10 years of corporate life, my own business... you name it!Before you clean any rooms, make a list of the things you want to do before baby comes. Spoil yourself with something big EVERY DAY! go to the movies, do hot tubs, girls nights out (even if at first you don't have the energy). catch up on favorite shows. take a day where you do nothing except eat popcorn with your feet up watching all your favorite series. go swim if you like to do that. I had my baby 2 weeks early, so i only got to get one prenatal massage, and go to the movies once. Live it up girl! this is your ME time! expecting-2b-patient -
Monday, 28 Sep I finished work last Wednesday. Just enjoy the last moments to yourself and your husband. Take your time doing the things that need to be done around the house. Good for you- it's coming so soon! I think about it sometimes and I'm like- "wow, I'm on maternity leave" so weird to say! heathert -

Sunday, 27 Sep I've heard it's great to stack the freezer with meals for when you come home from the hospital - and stock up on groceries (washing powder, toilet paper) things that are bulky and heavy so when baby comes home and you need to go shopping you're only doing small short shops in the beginning until you get used to juggling everything. How exciting! I can't wait to finish work in 3 months - but I'll surely miss the money! emma 141109 -
Sunday, 27 Sep I finish work this Wednesday, only 2 more days to go! Think it’s normal to feel a tad emotional about it, our lives sure are about to change. Good luck with the spring cleaning, I’ve got some spring cleaning to do myself! Peachy09 -
Sunday, 27 Sep LoL I second that - we tried one movie & gave up. I went to one other while hubby watched DS & thats it in 16 months. Cleaning sounds good & shopping to prep any food/meals after you get home - especially if you'll be BF you won't have much time the first week or so, therefore the easier the better! Make sure you have your chargers for camera, cell, etc. A couple of baby outfits, just pack for overnight - maternity clothes, old granny panties you don't care if they get stained & have to be thrown out, oh & chapstick! Whatever you'd pack to go away for 2 nights. Also, we took a 3 hr class before #1 & basically regretted it. Nothing you couldn't read about & know just as well or that the nurses didn't tell you about. Enjoy cleaning! mumma |-| -

Now youve finished up work keep busy otherwise time will go snail pace. Try and plan to get out of the house atleast 3 times a week. Go to the movies alot as once bub is here ull never go. ive not been once in over 4 months.
