18-10-2009 - Labour Feelings? Wondering...My mood while writing this blog:
Wondering...

Firstly, I had some pregnancy photos taken yesterday, including some "tasteful" nudes. I should get them in about a week so I'll post them as soon as I do.

OK. So last night I started getting some form of contractions/Braxton Hicks. They started at about 8.30pm and when I timed them they were about 4 minutes apart and were quite painful - not anything to bring tears to your eyes but very uncomfortable and achy down low near my public bone. They were still going at around 10pm and as I layed down in bed I said to my husband that if it gets worse it could possibly be time but that I'd just wait it out. I woke up at 1.40am and realised that I had fallen asleep so the "contractions" must have stopped.

As far as I know I still haven't lost my plug and my water has not broken, though I read that only 10-15% of women experience their water breaking prior to labour.

Anyway, I figured that it must all be a good thing regardless; to be getting at least a little bit of labour-like action. So this morning, after telling my husband I was a bit disappointed that nothing eventuated because I couldn't wait to meet my little boy, we snuck off to the bedroom to try to help it all along. And then we took our dog for a 45 minute walk along the beach. That walk was tough! It felt like I was walking with a large orange between my legs.

So now I'm just waiting and hoping. I do feel really quite uncomfortable and heavy down there, kinda like a need to poop, but I don't. (Sorry if tmi) So I guess today will be another day of new pregnancy feelings and wondering if they mean anything... Today was actually my original due date taken from the first day of my last period. I have loved being pregnant and I'll miss it but this waiting really does suck!

OoOoOoOo.. the countdown!!! I know how the waiting can suck! I waited .. and waited.. and waited. I tried EVERYTHING to go into labor on my own (except castor oil), but lil man was nice and content inside! I ended up getting induced 10 days over because my fluid started to get low... but it ended up being an easy labor! Good luck to you!

I have been having the same thing! The last 2 nights i started having some contractions that were definately painful, but not too intense, and then never regulated themselves... i have been keeping very active, doing lots of walking and just waiting for the time when they will start and continue, instead of stopping! I think I might have lost a bit of my plug last week, and had some sporatic spotting... but still no baby :) take care, keep us all posted!

it's going to be soon! my water never broke with my first son, although it sure did with his one! sounds like you are doing the right things to help it along....drink some raspberry leaf tea if you can get some, i had that both days prior to going into labour!

Ooo, can't wait to see the pics! I'm with you on the contractions that hurt but aren't terrible. It's frustrating when they go away instead of intensify like they're supposed to when it's true labor. We'll get there some day!!!
