| 30-7-2008 - Never written a blog before.... | My mood while writing this blog:a little sleepy! |
Hello....this is my first time writing one of these and I'm not sure where to start. I guess at the beginning, although as I'm now 22 weeks that could take a while. My pregnancy begun as a complete surprise 3 months into a new relationship (which I'm still in!). It started with a split condom and a reluctance to take the morning after pill shortly followed - I was on call for 2 days, the work pharmacist wouldn't give it to me, and by the time I had a day off and went to the chemist I had a strong feeling I was already pregnant and an overwhelming sense of not wanting to hurt something that was already alive. 2 weeks later my period was late, but pregnancy test was negative. 10 days on from that a second test was negative. A following week later I ended up in accident and emergency department with stomach cramps and a brash doctor saying they needed to do a scan to make sure everything was ok with my baby!!
As the 2 negative tests had put pay to my earlier hunch, I was completely shocked. And worried as they didn't know whether pregnancy was ectopic or not. Turned out something the size of a pea had settled in my uterus and was growing to change my life forever! My initial reaction was to cry. The bemused A&E doc asked if it was good news or not, to which I replied "I'm 8 months out of medical school, I'm crying, what do you think?!"
Luckily boyfriend's response was that he'd always wanted to be a young dad (he's 25!) and that he was hoping now I would agree to move in with him (I'd previously told him i wanted to wait until we'd been together a bit longer).
Anyhow, pregnacy wise there have been a few minor hiccups but 8 scans and 2 subchorionic bleeds later he's still inside, live and kicking! Also after the initial shock I'm now quite happy with my "pregnant" status and anxiously awaiting the arrival of my little one later this year.......
