14-3-2012 - IUI Results

My mood while writing this blog: Ok

Well, I had bloodwork done on Monday to test for pregnancy following the IUI. I had the last appointment of the day, so they had to wait until Tuesday to run the bloodwork, and called me with the results: The pregnancy test was technically positive, but the hcg level was really low (only 7) and that my pregnancy was likely headed for miscarriage. They put on me progesterone to try to support the pregnancy, and told me to come back Thursday, which is tomorrow, for another blood test to see if the hcg has doubled. I did some googling, and didn't find much to be positive about with a level that low.

I have to say, I was pretty devestated. I had fully prepared myself for the IUI to not work. I was all set to try another IUI and a cycle of injectables this summer, if need be. I hadn't even considered the possibility of another miscarriage...which looking back, is so dumb. It's happened once, of course it could happen again, but for some reason the thought really hadn't crossed my mind.

So in the meantime, I'll wait. And hope.
