My mood while writing this blog: confused and troubled |
So I don't really hate pigs! I am however torn about getting an H1N1 flu shot. My ob said if i were his wife he'd have me skip it, but my cousin who's a nurse practitioner was in total disagreement. I just wanted to ask you ladies your opinion on this, the news is getting rather scary - we had a 14 year old in perfect health pass away last week here in Maryland.

Sunday, 4 Oct Oh my goodness- that is so sad about that young girl. I really don't know what to advise for the best but make sure you research everything before you decide and that you're comfortable with your choice R-N-E-Bump -
Saturday, 3 Oct I'm in the same boat...to get it or not to get it. And I'm worried about the kids, too. Grr...I just wish we knew without a doubt it was safe, ya know? baby[bump]mama -
Saturday, 3 Oct i know that we are having our son get the shot, and i were still pregnant...i would have gotten it too. i know its kindda of a "damned if you do, damned if you dont" sistuation jennamoz -
Saturday, 3 Oct How many people actually have died from the regular flu? Now how many have died from the swine flu? I think you'll find that many more people die from just the regular flu than have or will die from the swine. I think I would stay away from it. Have you read the side effects of the regular flu shot? Alziemers. I wonder about this new vaccine? Just a thought or two. CarrieE -
Saturday, 3 Oct I know!!! So scary!! We're here in Baltimore too and it's WAY too close to home!! My ob highly recommended I get it. They will be giving them out at my ob office as soon as they come in, or I'll have the opportunity to get one at work because I work in a hospital. Just got my regular flu shot yesterday. Good luck in your decision and stay safe!! firsttimer -
Saturday, 3 Oct I asked my midwife about this last week, and she told me that in Scotland I will not be offered this jab, as they are trying to play this down! Hmmm. What a bizarre answer. It frightens the life out of me to get this, what if we are all on another forum 10 years from now talking about the damage caused to our unborn children because we got the jab? I don't know what to do about this. I wish it would all go away. I think I'll go on my doctor's advice on this, should it come up. But according to the crazy midwife I won't be offered it! Saturday, 3 Oct I have been 100% against getting it. However, yeserday I spoke to my good friend & she is a labor and delivery nurse at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Children and she said all of the pregnant women that come in there with it are devistated. She said that due to our weekend immune systems it attacks their lungs and most of them end up on ventilators. That freaked me out. With that being said, she said that herself and a few doctors there are still skeptical about the shot and don't know if they would get it. I'm not sure what I will do at this point. I really don't want it, because I am afraid of the unknown. But I really DON'T want the swine flu!! MamaCas29 -
Friday, 2 Oct I'm not. I just read that they approved higher levels of mercury to be added to the shot...it was on the local news here online. Look into it. I wouldn't take the risk. ashley96786 -
Friday, 2 Oct i decided not to get the shot. i know even being super clean does not prevent it. i try my hardest to wash and prevent. i would worry about what the un known side effects could be on my boys while im pregnant. i would feel guilty for getting the shot and something happening than not getting it and wondering if i would have not gotten the shot would i have ever got the flu.. best of luck deciding. mfbrown -
Friday, 2 Oct I have a 6 mo and I'm 22 and I think I am opting not to get the vaccines. At least for now. To me its still too questionable and they haven't researched it enough for me to be comfortable with it. vickiessecret -
Friday, 2 Oct My husband and I talked about it and i'm not getting it..it's too new..it's not tested..don't know what's gonna happen down the road. We don't want our daughter to get it either, her peditrician..said they don't know enough about it and he doesn't like it..so we all agreed on that. He's not even giving children that shot. Good Luck.
